Re: Jackieisrockin's IM3 Iron Patriot Pepakura Files! Check out page 66!

Can I ask what am I supposed to do when I find a model like online or from a pep file that I wanna use for like 3d printing or something or what's the procedure

Re: Jackieisrockin's IM3 Iron Patriot Pepakura Files! Check out page 66!

You have posted like 10 threads to the junkyard, and nobody wants to buy your terrible looking trash.

First "attempt" goes nowhere after people ask for photos.

Attempt 2, which you post the day after the first one, and you "close" it after someone calls you out on it.

Attempt 3, 2 days after the 2nd one, and people keep asking for photos. You don't respond to anything.

Attempt 4. Again, you post it 1 day after the last thread. I'm noticing a trend here. Also people ask for photos. You post them, nobody replies.

Attempt 5 is where you start posting photos, and waiting more than 2 days (but not by much - barely a week). And you don't "close" the sale after nobody responds. So maybe you're learning?

Attempt 6. Nope, you're not learning. You post this literally the same day as attempt 5. People are starting to figure it out and ask why you bother to post threads once a week offering the same trash. People tell you to "bump" your existing thread by replying to it. You do it only once before...

Attempt 7. More people asking for photos. More delivery of said photos of bad looking work.

Attempt 8 and I'm running out of things to say.

What's also interesting is that you are trying to open an interest for 3D printing services of someone else's work.

I don't know what's going on, or what you're trying to do. But oh man, I am super skeptical of any and everything you do.

LOL

Yeah nothing major that couldn't be tweaked by hand so far.
I don't remember who poster a RIS rail as being the silver rail on the forearm, but he was almost right. It looks very much like one except it's...biased somehow... Really weird. I think I'm going to give it a try in Blender.

edit :
well, here they are
rendercnvd0c.png

rendertrnhrv.png

right arm rail
left arm rail
They are scaled for 380 forearms, so you can rescale them if you want to, but they will fit higher scale obviously, and probably a 370 scale too.

Nice man, cant wait to print these. Good Work!!

Well first off, if you are really new to this, you should spend a few weeks researching all about this hobby. there are a lot to things you should know about it before you just dive in. It can be very costly. You also might want to practice using cardboard first before jumping into your first build, there are ways you can use to make your work look good. again, research all about it first, then decide if it is for you. Patience is another huge part. If you dont have any, be prepared to start over often on pieces.

When it comes to 3d printing, if it is someone's work make sure they will allow you to print their files. There is a lot of stuff out there that people have put many hours into, and they deserve the credit for their efforts. I saw your post selling a Face Plate and helmet or something. I know you got those images from Shapeways!!! and you did not even mention the creators name or give him credit. THAT IS A BIG NO NO!!

IronShwarma2754- Agreeing with what Ladman said, if you are going to 3d print someone elses work, you have to give them credit. In fact in says so when you are about to upload something to shapeways.
"Upload only 3D models and designs that consist entirely of content you created yourself or you have the permission and rights to use.

By clicking "Upload now", you are representing that this 3D model does not violate Shapeways' Terms & Conditions and that you own all copyrights for this 3D model or have authorization to upload and use it."

Just make sure you give credit to the person who deserves it and more importantly, get permission first.

And secondly, you cant simply export an .OBJ from a pep file, upload it, and print it: you would have to edit it in a 3d modeling program to make a thickness to the part in order to reduce costs on the print. But after all of that, go ahead and print! :)

Joker53- That looks awesome! It looks too cool :cool Any idea on what method youll use for paint?

Wow, I cannot wait to get home and start on this build. In my opinion this is one of the coolest looking suits yet and i cant wait to see some people's completed suits. Nice work on the modeling, the results from this build are better than i have seen in a very long time.

Man, I just don't know how you do it ! They're so smooth and clean, I just sprayed a first coat on some of my pieces and I made such a mess I fear I ruined them :/ Not to mention my garage is covered in paint...

Thanks jackie! Couldn't have done them without your files. Unfortunately I won't paint them up. It's up to the owners of these babies who gets to paint it whatever color scheme they want to.

Thanks man. What? Something must've gone wrong. Could you upload some pics? Anyway, I test fitted the suit. Unfortunately I couldn't find anyone who is somewhat like me that could fit in the other one. And it's night time so the picture quality ain't that good. Hope these help out the other folks building the suit.

Re: Jackieisrockin's IM3 Iron Patriot Pepakura Files! Check out page 66!

Will do when I get back home. Although it looked less worse this morning, but the problem was paint splattering mainly, so it wasn't smooth. Weird since I followed the instructions given for thinning and such... Should be good with a little sanding an more coats.

Are you sure you mixed in enough thinner? and the catalyst did you put the required amount?
