Jackieisrockin's IM3 Iron Patriot Pepakura Files! V2 files coming soon!

Re: Jackieisrockins Iron Patriot (IM3) Pepakura Files! Links in first post! Forearm a

And awesome pic! I was planning of doing a full render of the suit in a cool pose or something when its 100% complete :thumbsup

Cool. If your render has the full red white and blue paint job, might I suggest a parody of the old Uncle Sam "I want you" posters.

Quovadis0920-

Ladman- The brush on Styrospray seems interesting to try (Maybe only for iron man suits since he has that "brushed metal" look that could be created by the brush on Styrospray) But im glad you enjoy the look of it! Do you plan on making your suit with this method?

At first i was going to do the PVA approach to my foam. then i saw a thread on how someone had used a different type of foam ( it is posted in this thread some few pages back here is the link http://www.therpf.com/f24/first-time-build-im-mk-vi-selitac-161499/ ) and used the StyroSpray to seal his foam. So then i also bought some of the foam he used. it looks like it will work great for the helmet and cannon, it is light weight and ribbed on the back side so it can be bent easy. Depending on how the StyroSpray and StyroPrime work out on the helmet, i may coat my entire suit in it. The StyroSpray can only be bought in 2 gallon units. so it come to about $119.00 plus shipping. I think PVA is about 60 bucks per gallon. So it is a little more pricey, but the finish i think will be a lot better.

Hey guys i know this is probably a noob question, but i really want to build this suit, and i don't know how to scale the suit since i can't find a picture of the head to toe suit. any ideas on what i should do? what have the other builders who are attempting this doing? any help would be greatly appreciated

Re: Jackieisrockins Iron Patriot (IM3) Pepakura Files! Links in first post! Forearm a

Funny you mention Uncle Sam poster, it just popped up in my notes for tommorow's exam.
Dark knight, I'm not sure what you want here, if you want to build it for yourself, you don't need a picture, just check the size chart a few page back and check in pep designer that it will indeed fit.

CJGrimm- :lol good idea :thumbsup

Ladman- Awesome! Exited for future progress pics :) And also, i had just remembered about this link that i found a while back- StyroSpray Hard Coatings : Industrial Polymers
Have you checked this out? It offers a cheaper 2 quart kit. Just making sure you didnt miss it :)

Quovadis0920- :eek :eek :eek Woah that is just insanely awesome! Great job! :D:thumbsup

Ok, so I now own two IP helmets, unfortunately neither of them fit my head correctly...Turns out my ideal scale is somewhere in the middle lol. I will remedy that, but I think first I'll deal with the torso sections for something different.

That being said, I thought they looked ok, but looking at Quovadis' helmet mine look like they spread too much in the middle...Might have to look into what I did differently...

Thanks for the link. thats the site that i have been dealing with lol, i did see the 2 qrt kit, i was just unsure of how much i would really need. So i was just going to go with the 2 gallons, that way i can use it in future builds.

.

Thats funny dude, i did the same thing, only i did not figure out my scale until i built my fourth helmet:cry. I build all mine to scale first using card board so i dont make a mistake when it comes time to using foam :lol

The above linked thread is my build... I ordered and used their 2 quart kit. (1 quart A and 1 quart B) I put on 5 coats total with foam brushes. Runs and drips were unavoidable, but sanded off easily. If I had to do it again I would coat the inside and outside of each piece since I ran into some peeling on the edges where the styrospray ended. I was recoating every half hour per their instructions but in hindsight I think I would do thin coats and let them cure overnight, sand lightly and recoat...it would reduce the drips and runs greatly. My build was down to the wire though, I was literally painting parts the morning of Halloween.

All in all I used about 2/3 of the 2 quart kit for a child's size (4' tall) armor. I would guess that 1 gallon would be more than adequate for an adult size armor coating inside and outside.

For prep I used regular latex wall board primer and sanded it smooth after it dried. It worked extremely well.

I have been considering building an IP for my son this year, I am going to use Sintra backed with fiberglass for the main suit itself, but I think the cannon and maybe helmet will be Selitac foam again. The Selitac is easy to work with and feather light... But not super durable. The shins and shoe tops took a beating from walking around.

So, this is what I have thus far. I like how the shoulder came out. However the chest I do not. I plan on finishing the chest for practice, and sizing. I have not made any adjustments with a heat gun yet, so I may end up using the chest.

I think that you can only buy the StyroSpray 1000 in 2 quart or 2 gallon units. I did intend on getting the StryoPrime aswell to seal it before i used the StyroSpray 1000.

quovadis0920, your build is looking sick man!!

Anyone know which pep file quovadis0920 is using for the torso (chest/back combo)?

The Upper Torso file that Jackie modelled. All the files so far are in the first post on this thread.

I meant which foam conversion unfold, Gaiatron's or Ironleoman's? But, since I tried Gaiatron's and wasn't exactly the look I wanted, I guess it would be the Ironleoman's unfolded one lol. :facepalm Being anxious for an immediate response since I was at work when I asked earlier,I was like let me just post it lol. I couldn't just download the other file and look since I don't have pep on my work computer. Big ups to Jackie and everyone helping and working on these projects. :thumbsup

P4r4dox86- They look good! Keep going! :thumbsup

Bhodie- They all look great! :) Good job! And if you dont like the chest, you can always go back and re-do it if you want :)

Tvo- You should pick whichever foam conversion you feel might be better for YOU to build and what you are comfortable with :)

I have finished the elbow!
