Is this TDK Cowl accurate?

I found a cowl for sale for $200 (excluding shipment), made out of tinted urethane rubber.

I am planning to buy it, but I wanted to first hear your opinions on whether its accurate.

Here are the pictures, what do you guys think? Worth the money? My only concern so far is the bump going out at the back (seen in the side shot), but I'm not sure whether it's too big a deal. Need opinions :)

its hard to make out from these grainy pics, but it seems its missing a little depth in the side details:

holy huge picture, batman!

didnt look so big in google...

Looks accurate to me.

At least the head part, I hope you get the neck as well.

I recognize the sculpt.
Its done by one of our respected members and is a very good deal IMO.

There are alot of batman costumers who use this cowl as well, so if you are questioning accuracy, you really cant go wrong, its a great cowl and a steal at that price.

Just be sure to measure your head and send those measurements to the seller so you can verify it will fit you.

Alternatively you can stop by the Brotherhood of the Bat forums and ask about accuracy there, but dont include price or sales, we have a rule against that over there, but you can certainl yask about the sculpt.

Maybe the original artist would chime in.

I would get with coofunkcurly or ludakris (hell's kitchen if you google). Comes with the neck and for about the same money.

This cowl is highly innacurate, everything from the cheek detail being too sharp right to the spacing of the eyes and side of head.
There are much nicer cowls out there Finhead/Coofunkcurly is one that I can not praise enough. I also have the Hells kitchen version, which again is a work of art.
Give these guys a shout and you will be more than happy!

I've seen the pictures of the coofunkcurly's cowl and despite its detail I didn't have such a great appeal for it, it seemed too round and the texture was off IMO (the detail is amazing though).

I like this one because it's elongated, the colour and texture seem to be correct and it's ears aren't too wide.

I just still get kinda bothered about the back bit going out too much rather than curving upwards

The thing about ebay cowl is that most likely then not they are casted/done/moulded by amateurs to make a quick buck.

I have had bad experiences with ebay cowls where the casting is super rough, imperfections, bumps everywhere, huge seamlines on the sides of the cowl etc. I sold all my ebay cowls and paid for a coofunkcurly's, hopefully it arrives soon

I think the face area of the cowl looks round because of how it sits on the stand. I had the same concern before, but it looks great once worn:

These are photos I found of his cowl:

@sparrowfan: thanks for the pics, but as weird as it might sound I want a cowl that I would be able to wear but it will mostly be for display rather than cosplay. And coofunkcurly's cowl seems more for wear, it will be too round when just displayed :confused

Seems like splitting hairs to me, with the right mount any cowl can be made to look flatter or rounder to need.

the cowl in those pics was cast by me...here's some backstory on it incase anyone is curious

I have a buddy who is BIG Nolan/DK fan but not really a costumer...he wants a suit to put in his home studio...so after talking to me about how the suits were made , he acquired a 3D model( not sure the origin, but it looked pretty good to me ) of the suit.... since he doesn't make props or molds himself, he asked me to do all the cleaning and casting of his prints when he got them done and I agreed. The arrangement was I make him his suit along with a few extra castings of the cowl , and in return I get to keep the molds. Now the day the print arrived it was obvious the accuracy was a bit off ( as I'm sure most die hard DK fans will agree), but it's always been really up to my buddy to fix it if he was unhappy...but when he saw the pics he was pleased so I went a head and got it cleaned and casted... ...I'll add that if it wasn't for him I wouldn't ahve pursued this particular costume (although I do like the DK suit ) I'm more of a Keaton guy ( as most people probably already know lol:love).....

I think that when it comes to DK cowls there are many sources to acquire one...most of them will be the Noble statue version( ebay seems to have at least 3-4 of them up almost weekly)....but it all boils down to personal taste and budget....is mine the most accurate? nope...but I kinda dig that it's a little different :cool

I think the cowl looks good, not 100% accurate, but good. I'm interested in finding out more about coofunkcurly, now, though

fancy meeting you here :lol I sent you an email, decided to go for yours after all :)

And thanks for all the replies guys! Very Helpful :)

Accuracy of Batman cowls, given how many different versions, by so many different artists, is a vague idea. This looks like a nice cowl, very true to the current TDKR cowl.

All in all it's great.
