Ironman mk45 Friday [WiP]

Sorry had a long break. I'm on the sealing stage. I'm using acrylic emulsion mixed with black acrylic which also works as a primer because the red I chose is lighter than usual uploadfromtaptalk1448325297376.jpg

Really nice progress my friend! Im really happy you are finishing the suit so quickly! If I only had time to continue mine! :(
I also hope your paint will dry, I always have trouble with paint not drying for hours when used under 15°C! Usually paint needs about 20-25°C to dry, but well see! Hope to see more Updates! :)

Thx im using graffiti spray paint. It dries quicker than normal enamel spray. After 1 light coat wait 30 mins and then do the 2nd. Usually it's enough because the color is so strong. And €3.50 a can is super cheap

Re: Ironman mk45 Veronica [WiP]

Where can i get the foam pep files for thr forearm and gauntlet.?
I am not allowed to share the files I'm using - I hope u understand. However, maxcrft is selling the files at etsy. You either have to wait until someone releases it for free or u buy it if u want it now

This is a really attractive looking piece of work!
Oh wow thank you, Mr metal mcawesome! I'm a big fan of your build!

Here's how it looks after 1st layer of red. It looks too bright because my phone enhances the lighting automatically

The boot is made of 12mm eva. Even the bottom is sealed with eva. The black upper piece is made of 3mm craft foam. I put my sneakers in it to make the boots wearable. uploadfromtaptalk1448840101448.png

Damn, those details are so clean! I'm trying to hold off on getting into foam builds since I want to fiberglass, but man that looks good!

I remember that post on the rpf! I just took a peek at the etsy page. Its not as pricey as I thought. I guess those extra details from D03D are worth the $200+??? lol.( seriously, the model does look nice though)

Anyways, I'm thinking on picking this up on etsy and trying some of the parts. I noticed from some reference art that the design usually sports a shorter and wider chest piece. From your notes I also realized that even if I scale, the upper chest wouldn't be as wide as needed to cover the torso because Helgak's piece is more square than it is wide. I like the slim profile of the helgak better, but the details on MZX/maxcrft seem a little more accurate. I'm still going to build some/all of Helgak's and maybe tweek some details with help from maxcrft maybe.

May I ask you, were the limbs the only builds you did from maxcrft's files or did you redo any of the torso from helgak's files? Also, did you have any issues when building the forearms or shins from maxcrft's files?

Oh man, I just realized I asked so many questions. I appologize if I'm inquiring about too much. I just want to get enough info before I proceed with any purchases or what my next step in my armor build will be.

No problem dude, I'm just giving ban what I learned from others [emoji39]

You are right. I'm mainly using helagak's files. I'd recommend the do3d files (which is awesome btw) if you want to print it in 3d. It's so high poly that pepping it would take too much resources. But maxcrft is also selling the foam pdo which is easy to use while maintaining high details.

As far as my build is concerned, every file has been modified for my needs. There were some trimming, adding lines, connecting pieces before tracing on foam, etc. Also most of the edges where dremeled down to get an even fissure.

Here's an example before and after I trimmed off the torso and abs so it's sexier [emoji23]

I'm really trying to maintain the slim look while still achieving those curvy "superheroic" proportions. Seems like no matter what, I'm going to probably need to trim and modify to get my desired result. I'm super jelly of your build, man. You've been moving through your build pretty quickly, too! Are you going to add lights, electronics, etc to the armor?

I have to work fast because I'll be showing it at the 1st German Comic con this Saturday [emoji33]

lights are finished. I'm using the gloves from my previous build. Unfortunately, I don't have time to hinge the faceplate - to be added later.

Here's a pic of the suit worn today at the German comiccon. It's not 100% finished but it showed me today where the imperfections are.

Special thanks to helagak, imim2, JiHo Jung, gaiatron, maxcrft and Enrico van den Heuvel. U guys made this possible
