I've finally got this guy ready for molding. Here's a render of the 3D model that it was built from:



I'm done painting my own copy, here's what it looks like now:


The price for the raw cast kit is $220 plus shipping.

EDIT: Forgot to mention, this helmet is sized to fit my 23.5" head with plenty of room for padding and whatnot.

I even managed to get some thickening done:


I should have the first casts of the main body of the helmet in the next few days.

Rubber jacket for the main body of the helmet is finished:


When I get back to the workshop, I'll be making the mothermold. Once I've got a good rotocast copy I'll be getting back to work on the backdoor in order to be absolutely certain that it will fit properly.

Remember, I'm only offering the lower price until I have the first completed kit out of the molds. After that, it'll cost an extra $30.

The mothermold is laid up for the main body of the helmet:




After a bit of trimming, it came off nice and easy:


The jacket mold came off clean once I'd made a serpentine relief cut up the backside:


Here's the first rotocast copy out of the mold:

I still have to make molds for the eyes and the backdoor panel, so I'm still accepting payment at the pre-order price. If you'd rather wait until the whole kit is completely molded, the price will go up.

First pair of clear cast eyes came out of the mold nice and clean:


Now I just need to finish the backdoor panel and start a mold for it:


I'm a bit amazed at the lack of response. Somebody's gotta want one of these kits...

Still tuning up the edges of the backdoor plate. On track for having that piece molded this week and then the first kits will be ready to ship.

So once again, right now I'm selling the kit for $190 shipped anywhere in the US. If you wait until I've got this last piece out of the mold and post pics of the complete kit, the price will increase to $220.

I've got the first two backdoor panels cast and they fit great. Here's the first one fresh out of the mold with no trimming or filing:


It notches into place and there's no magnets or tape or any other fasteners holding it into place:




Now that I've got all of the molds made, I'm no longer offering the reduced pre-order price.
