-IronMan Mark 42 HD paper Pepakura build-( including dissasembling hinges-scene)

OMG guys I'm so happy with my foam build... Haven't sealed it though... Hope to do that soon... But I'm SO pumped to do more foam builds as it's delivers such quick results.... I have to build a cardboard suit as we'll for my science expo project at school to compare the quality of detail so I'm really wanting to do the mark 42... Also looking into doing more cardboard builds because you can still fiberglass it and add body filler...Argh it's that feeling when you want to do 100000 things at once but you can't......anyway watch out for more pics and updates and plse leave a comment below.... :)

Also I'm a noob with building cardboard, and there are not a lot of tutorials out there like foam, which is a big reason I think my foam suit was so successful ..., so can someone advise me some tips and golden rules?

have you considered loose hinging the pieces and then springing them and magnetising the open ends and creating a pressure pin system? its just a rough idea at the moment, if you want, i can sketch up a quick drawing to explain it.

Hey guys I know it's been quite a while , schools been busy and I haven't had a lot of time at hand.
I have finished the right paper boot. And sanded off my fiberglass helmet, reprimed it and is looking for the right colour paint....
I fineshed the eyes ... I thought I was gonna do the EL panel thing with the eye slit but I did that for the casts and I can see almost nothing so I did what James from Xrobots did ... And it works perfectly but I haven't installed it yet i first want to paint the helmet.....
i want to install the manual face plate hinge soon.....
Pics later....
comment on them plse .... And on what should do next

not quite, that would only really allow to be pryed open then recoiled shut from what I can tell. Yours has the spring anchored to to opening end of the piece, forcing it closed. Whereas my idea has it on the back at the hinge, pulling it open, there would either be magnets or a pin system to keep it closed until you pushed it and it sprung open. I'm not near my desktop but when I am ill sketch up a drawing.

heres the most simple idea.
this is the starting position, when it closes the magnets hold it into place and a simple bump should jar the two magnets apart, pulling them open and allowing the wearer to just step out.
p.s. i apologise about the abhorrent quality, i made it in paint on my phone.

Its perfect man thanks so much I'm just a little uncertain where that hing will go... It cant go that far back because of the top of the helmet and unfortunately it doesn't have the same slots as the mk 3 helmet....

I understand, this diagram was really just to give the basic idea on how to get them all to swing open for any parts. For the helmet, put the hinge where you had it in your drawing but place the rubber band slightly higher than parallel behind the swivel point on the main helmet. Is that clear?

haha great minds think a like and that looks excellent i am from the free state if you want i know a guy in electronics will ask him what does he suggest

are you making rubber pieces for the under suit?
This guy has a few tutorials on a ironman build he did
When My Brain Leaks, the Drops Drip Here.: Prop Building 101 Part 1: Building a Helmet from Pepakura
Will check him out....thanks
I'm thinking of saving up to buy hands from someone else (haha I'm to lazy to make my own) they will be in urethane rubber then the wrist( basically all joint pieces ) and Abs will all be cast in silicone.... For flexibility ...
Mainly my priority is to try and sell the suit so I can buy a 3D printer and up my detail/costuming/ironman game ....I wanna build a lot of suits quick and detailed...
Suggestions...

Hello, my name is Wash, I am from Argentina using Google translator because my English is basic ..

I'm building 42 Mark paper, not foam, I found most of the PDO files. Those who are not meeting the shoulder and bicep Mark 42 paper.

I have read several threads on this armor and I have not found, perhaps not see them, you know where I can issue you find or if there is any tutorial or way to convert paper foam PDO?

I would appreciate some light on this, it's the only thing that I would fail to complete the armor.

Regards and thanks!

Hey djwash
there is currently no bicep or shoulder files avaliable for paper ... So we all would have to wait or build a foam or cardboard bicep and shoulder ....
Do you have a thread would love to see your work!!!
good luck

Ok. I have not created a thread yet, I'm cutting paper right now haha.

In a short time there is an event, I hope to finish the armor soon, I know when I create a thread and have some armed, process fiber, painting and others.

Thank you!
