Re: Iron Man mk42 v4 : in-depth explanation [NOT FOAM]

Love the detail your putting into this, keep up the good work!

Re: Iron Man mk42 v4 : in-depth explanation [NOT FOAM]

That's looking sweet!

And thanks for adding those reference pictures. There's a lot I haven't seen before.
Hope you won't mind if I grab them :)

No problem man. Go ahead. :)

Love the detail your putting into this, keep up the good work!

Thanks!

Sorry for the lack of updates. Been busy finishing orders. Don't wanna end up banned for not filling it up. I got my sets of fingers and forearms from Abb. If you're looking for top notch fingers and mk42 forearms, HE IS the guy :)

Just needed to fill up small holes, sand and paint. Also got some mockle's ribbed dragon skin for the gloves. Should work pretty well.

Probably gonna work on this early next year again. So 'til then. :)

Re: Iron Man mk42 v4 : in-depth explanation [NOT FOAM]

Man that all just looks amazing! Cant wait to see more!

I see you're back man. Nice to see you drop by my thread. :) As always, your files make this masterpiece possible. This has been a long time no update thread.

Here are some pics to bump this thread out. As I've mentioned previously, I purchased some parts for the suit, namely fingers and the forearms from abb.
1477505_709262819084714_635092696_n.jpg
I assembled the fingers and made my own hand armor. I was planning to buy darkside's hand armor which was too cool to pass on but something came up which my money went to. :( I managed to make one out of foam, and not to brag or anything but I think I was able to pull it off. It blends with the finger's really well.

1460262_714762831868046_1938753589_n.jpg
I purchased therealstark's newest repulsors and installed them. Looked awesome.
1460980_714937308517265_526307834_n.jpg

That's all for now. I got a little sidetracked and finished my dream costume since I was a kid.

Re: Iron Man mk42 v4 : in-depth explanation [NOT FOAM] Update 12/16

Looks great! All of it! :D

Thanks man. Can't wait 'til you release the next part for the suit :)

Here's a handful of pics for the update.
I managed to fill and sand the seams. Should be good to paint once I line the details out. I already fiberglassed the insides so it's stronger than ever. I mean durable.

1476178_717406094937053_1183224484_n.jpg

The back needs more work though.

That fiberglass finish I am aiming for? I think it's close.

Re: Iron Man mk42 v4 : Sintra Build [and a little foam here and there]

lookin smooooth. lemme see the inside?

I'll post some. In time :)

such amaze
much smooth
very iron
wow

Thanks man :)

Not much of an update, but most of my items [and base for future projects in the coming year] arrived before christmas. I was busy finishing the mk42 run I made, and then got busy-er when they arrived. I think the pictures will do justice.

That's biggeek's mk17 Heartbreaker helmet which is really really outstanding. I only did some little dremel work to remove the flushings but it was easy. Real easy. He did an amazing job with the mold and casts.

1533946_719400098070986_252065007_n.jpg

I already finished this bad boy up, but I think it still needs some retouching of paint on some areas. I'm not good with masking areas. Haha

547532_247335508765668_1504087015_n.jpg

Next up is thorssoli's mk33 Silver Centurion helmet which I pre-ordered way back. I'm not used to working with onyx resin casts so I had a little problem with some slight bubbles over the dry paint, but I got it solved already. This pic, I should say, is outdated by now. LOL

1003574_719796831364646_276066937_n.jpg

I can only get my hands on little reference pictures regarding this suit, the Hot toys and some movie stills. It had a slight flash of gold and chrome.

988452_718390328171963_1328209905_n.jpg

So if you count them all up, this is what I should be making suits for this coming year.

1530383_718933604784302_1787076117_n.jpg

Now going back to the mk42 project on hand. I got the helmet painted and the forearms as well, together with the hand and fingers. Repulsor tech's from therealstark, and his new design for the compact unit is way better than the previous ones. I bought a sheet of dragon skin from mockle, but it turned out I needed more. He's still doing runs last time I checked. I need to get more. More. :) Mobility is way better than the previous glove I wore with my previous suit, from doc.

I want that glossy car like feel on my projects, so here. I got it all buffed up.

1499495_717810111563318_1541498906_n.jpg

More comin'. That's probably the last update before the year ends. So expect more this comin' year. :) Planning to get my whole team ready for a basketball match. LOL

Happy Holidays and an explosive new year to everyone! Cheers! :)

all of these looking great!!:)
clean and nice work, keep up man :D

Re: Iron Man mk42 : Sintra Build [Last Update for 2013]

Very nice build, I like how you can bend and layer your sintra material there. Subbed for more on your build techniques! Super clean.

Just curious as to what thickness of the sintra you are using, and if you could go over some of your build techniques (cutting, gluing, filling) with us. Thanks!

Nice work. How did you do your inner gloves? Just made wraps for your fingers with the dragon skin or sew them to something? (Just trying to figure out what to do with mine...) Are the sounds from the repulsors like the movies? It's hard to tell from videos.

Thanks

Thank you! Will do. Once I resume the armor I'll take a step by step guide for you guys. The thicknes is 0.2 mm. Kinda like cardboard boxes.

Thank you. I asked my friend who does the sewing for the entirety of my costumes to sew the dragonskin onto a new set of gloves. The sounds? Nope they're not but they're close. I have little knowledge regarding boards and electronics but from what I know, if you put the movie sound of the repulsors onto the board it'll take a bit more space as you need to put a memory card in 'em to work properly.

This is the first update for this thread and I'm afraid it's not related to the mk 42. I promised I'll be building a team of mine for this year, so while doing commissions, I took less sleep hours than I usually have to work for these pieces. Then the normal hours of my everyday back to commissions. I need to clear my list to get back on my projects. Really. :(

I bought MrTropical's mk17 pep set way way back. So I kinda forgot the reference he used for the suit files. I forgot it's this one :

1525704_724922957518700_872813327_n.jpg

I used these ones by mistake. My bad really.

But his files are really dead accurate to the first pic really. Minus the hard details. I had to put those in manually. As many of you know, the helmet is from biggeek. Really awesome job. Planning to get more from him. Money's worth it. :thumbsup Okay enough of the sugar coating, on to the pictures.

Note : I used plastic tubes for the details. I'm still thinking of putting leds in those to light them up. But it's still on the drawing board. As I've said, commission clearing first.

I offered a run of these but no one seemed to be interested. Oh well. :D

I'll try to get more updates posted on this thread these coming weeks. So stay tuned :)

Re: Iron Man mk42 : Sintra Build [HeartBreaker Teaser]

Thanks for posting some pics and details quovadis0920. Very cool.

I am in the planning stages of building myself a mk17 for next halloween, and building my son a mk15. My first builds ever. I too got MrTropicals mk17 files, they are really nice! Never build anything like this before, so following your threads with your build details has been a huge help. I'm going to order some sintra online, I don't think it's sold locally - just so I can play around with it a bit. Seems like a good job for a plastic welder! I love that helmet as well, biggeek did a great job. Your work on the chest piece is great, good idea with the plastic tubing - looks like aquarium airline, got a bunch of that around. Very crafty.

Your work is fantastic, feel free to keep posting pictures! And thanks again for posting build details, really helps - especially for brand new guys, like me!

Thanks! Yep I believe the tubes I used are used for air. I checked my aquarium when you mentioned it and yes they are the same tubes. I bought them in different sizes, and basing from the reference pictures, the sizes of the tubes are really different from one part to the other. I'll get some how to glue sintra pics in a day or two. In the meantime keep researching it'll help a lot.

Quin, how u intending to mount the shoulders?

hey man! I have yet to do that. I'll try to get a pic up how I did it tomorrow. It should work on yours too.

Re: Iron Man mk42 : Sintra Build [HeartBreaker Teaser]
