iron man mark vi build

really good work!
everything looks nice and clean.
one thing that is wrong is the details on the chest... the things sticking out.
they are supposed to be indentions, not sticking out.
haha
cant wait for the next update.

Warlick is right. Only other thing is the top ring of your neck piece is upside down. The next tapers up all the way it does taper and then widen if that makes sense. Good build though. Clean pep.

also, the details between the cheek and jaw are supposed to be indented not sticking out

Very clean work though

thanks for the spot advice guys ... I missed the details between the mouth and mask being outward instead of inward .... but the two things sticking out of the chest I caught when it was done I just have not corrected it yet ... The mask and cheeks being indented will get formed correctly when I harden the helmet ... this is a great reason why this site is great ... so many people helping out and telling me what I dont see after staring at something for hours or days at a time ... other then those little flaws you folks think I am doing aright at the pepping process? ... I want it to come out as clean as possible ya know!:)

*grabs chair and cracks whip*
Now get to resining!:lol

Hey all,

Been away from the game for a while.

Decided to start back up today. Not much really. Just filling and sanding.

glad to see you back JMar ... I hope to start resinning aas soon as the weather improves here in colorado ... meantime keepin with the cutting, scoring, and gluing.

That is a sweet PEP Saber.
Although, took me a while to work out whose thread this was with almost three people posting their progress every page haha.

Cannot wait to see it Resined/fibreglassed up.

Good Luck buddy

Yeah it started out mine then JMar joined me and pred jumped in ... I dont mind ... I am leaving in about an hour to get fiberglass resin and hope that the weather warms up a little more to get some of the parts resin coated thaks for the comment though mykii

No worries Saber.
I hope you have fun with that Fibreglassing haha.
Hope to have my fibreglass completely finished by Friday!
Got 1 full layer of Resin on my helmet now :D 2 More layers to go.

you talking on just the helmet or all the parts that you finished so far? got a question for you ... did you put a thick coat on first or strat witha thin coa of resin on your bucket?

I just slapped on about 35ml for the whole coat. That seemed to be a medium coat.
Hoping this next coat will be a bit heavier as it still feels a little flimsy. Best thing to do in my opinion is to judge it as you go. If you slap on some resin and it seems to sink a little start with a thin layer. If it seems to hold then continue at that thickness.

There is a saying here 'You can always add more but cannot take away'. So remember that!

yeah I agree with that statement ... I was just curious ... I am nervous a little after the amount of work it took to put the bucket together ... I dont want to see it sag into a wad of mushy paper ... I need to correct the the detials between the jaw and the faceplate before I harden it but I think if I just cut each one off and switch them it will be fine ... I will let you know how it goes I am off to buy some resin and a baby crib ...

Baby Crib?

Hope it went well. I've got a few gaps and what not when I put the face plate onto the back but at the end of the day filler will do just that. Fill the gaps and if I ever decide to have a removable face plate I'm sure the dremel will come in handy!

Just remember that, The filler is done to perfect it all really. Thats why we apply it so we can sand it and sculpt it into the shape it needs.

You pick up so much from reading everyone elses threads here as well. I've only been doing this for roughly 2 and half weeks now and I know quite a bit already. Best bit will be doing the LED eyes.

Good Luck! :D

The learning curve on these projects is amazing.

For my helmet I did a single coat of Smooth On 2 part resin inside and out. Then I used the I used the same product with the fiberglass cloth/sheet. It is one hard helmet.

I've actually decided to do a bust rather than full suit...for now anyway. When I do make a suit I'm going to go back the the MKIII for no other reason than upon second (and 3rd, 4th, etc) viewing I prefer the first Ironman movie and the suit that goes with it.

Did some sanding with the new Master Craft palm sander today...the 20$ black and decker really sucks. I was sanding our stairs and the bottom fell off. It's gonna take a while to get all the 'rounds' right but we'll get there.

JMar

At least you did not give up JMar ... glad to see your still gonna make some use out of the work you have put in already ... Mykii, I am having a baby girl in a couple of months and she needs a place to rest her beautiful little head ... cant wait to make her some cool props

thanks JMar ... hopefully my little girl will want to be seen with daddy wearing movie props all over the place lol

she will just be embarrassed like her mother then cuz mommy does not like the whole iron man build anyway ... they will conform or they will suffer ... lol ... It will make school fun when she gets into trouble ha ha
