iron man mark vi build

It may be a moot point. I think I've finally decided what I want to do. I'm going to do a MKVI as I'm pretty much there already.

If I have the energy when it's done (in several months lol) then I'll go back and do a MKIII

Looks like I'm on the same page as everyone else now!

Yeah JMar I already printed the brace also I printed the mark IV brace to try to dupe your issue but mine printed out twice correctly so I was gonna check your settings to see if it was something with those ... cool your gonna do the MK VI I wanna compare my final product to yours see how I hold up skill wise ... oh side note (learning experience) my back plate assembly is seeing a few set backs seeing how I will assemble a part and attach it then find out that it would have worked better to attach the parts in sections then attach the sections together now i have to reprint and assemble certain parts ... pics to follow

here are examples of the issues with the build so far ... as you can see the shoulder portions are not even and the cut out gaps are not tight like i want them but it the the first run and laamberry said it right when she said that it will not look great in the beginning ... i can correct this and definitely learned from how i assembled it the first time to make it better ...

^ i dont get it, do U put the overlay pieces on the outside? u know, the ones that are not part of the design but are used to stick pieces together? cos i do them on the inside so that the helmet looks proper on the outside.

also, where did you get the files? i only have the file for the helmet :(

Thats where I got the helmet as well, but when i try to pen the file form the link that u gave me it says that "Cannot load file of specific type"

i have no problem loading nay other pep files, just this one :(

ps. i found some mark 4-6 files on my computer that i downloaded from the same thread a while ago but I am missing a right arm and a right leg

PS. I am also having trouble with scale. The helmet that I printed out without changing the scale was too big for me. I am not sure whther I should rpint out the rest of the armo cos it will also be too big for me and I dont know how to scale and what the scale is.

the new version of pepakura viewr limits us really badly, it doesnt allow to deform or move pieces on 2D view and I am not sure whether it allows scaling :'(

I use Pepakura Designer instead of Viewer.. this allows you to make changes in scales, flaps and the rest

I just got designer but don't know how to use it yet.

I THINK the helmet is my size, it may be a bit larger but I'll just pad it. As for the rest of the armour I'm going to go ahead and build it all and deal with fit issues as they come up.

I go the files from robo on one of his links and the file contained all of the parts for the armor but i think that the right apendages are just reversales of the left side ... i double checked and the foot foremarm and fingers are the universal works on both sides kinda files just invert them when you print them ... and get the designer for pepakura it will allow you to scale the parts down or up according to what will fit you ... JMar hope that the designer helps your build out ... Pr3dato8 what is the file ext of your pep file that will not open?

Update: Helmet and neck seal done, Collar plate done, Shoulder 'Bells' 90% done. I'm hoping to have them finished tomorrow. The left is complete and the right is the one that needs finishing.

We're heading to Toronto for a mini vacation on Friday, so next week I'll be starting the brace and chest/back.

Pics to follow.

Sabertech...I am in school now but i will look it up when i get back home.

Jmar...nice! how are you managin to cut out and glue everything in such a little amount o ftime!?!?!?!? It took me 9 hours to just cut out the paper bits for the helmet and another 3 hours to glue them together :(

Well it took me a week to cut and glue the first helmet. Then another week to do it all over again. The collar was quick and the shoulder bells are about a day each.

It helps that I have a job where I've got a lot of control over my schedule. The days that go quick give me more time at home to work on my own projects.

Also I'm really into it right now so I'm willing to devote most of my free time to it. In the evening's my wife and I watch TV while working on our projects, Iron an armour for me and knitting or WoW for her.

^ nice! sounds like a happy life, it really does :)

i can take the hours of cutting out but my boddy cant, my stomach strt hurting ect. i almost get ill everytime i do a project cos i keep overdoing ^_^

^ mean to cut out or glue together?

took me 9 hours to cut out all the bits and about 3 hours to bend all the bits and glue them together. so thats in total of 11 hours (thats just pure time of work) to get one paper iron man helmet

Hey JMar when you completed the neck seal ... was it one piece or did you keep yours as four pieces? i am still not sure which is the best way to go on it yet til i harden it

i'd keep it as four. just look at the 3d image to get where each piece fits to the back of the neck portion, and then measure the spaces, putting tape on the back of the neck portion to keep it shaped correctly. then the other 3 pieces should be articulated in some way.

I did mine as a 4 piece. Though I pan to articulate it once things are hardened.

I'll be adding pics tonight. I've got a few touch ups to do on the chest piece brace.

sorry correction I secured all4 pieces together into one piece...THEN I'd like to articulate it later.
