The mask eyes are kicking my Butt....I can't figure out the folds...

Any advice?

^ sure! :)

I have quite a few actually.

Here is the helmet in paper form:

And this is after I have fiberglassed the helmet (in order for the parts to not be bent in a wrong way after the helmet would dry I glued the 3 parts together when I was fiberglassing and resining the helmet so after it dried I just used a knife to brake them appart):

I was planning to install magnets into the helmet today so i could easily snap the chin and the faceplate on and off but turned out I had a lot of homework so I will try and do that tomorrow. :)

Ahh, the horrible eyes, I spent an hour figuring out how they go. I managed to do one but then realised that i didnt need them at all. Enjoyed burning those nasty eyes after that ;)

Look at the picture of my faceplate, I just put one line all the way inside th eyes and that did the trick. Becuase if you think about it, later on you will have to cut out the eyes anyway so might as well not do them :)

SO just leave one line into the eyes (reference on my provided pictures) :)

Hope this helps :)

Looking good, I'm onto helmet #2.

With lessons learned from the first I think I should be OK!

so u r not even gonna finish this one? :cry

whats ur hemet #2? btw if u just started doing pepakura: experiences varies depending what stuff you are making, some things are harder to make and some are made up of many small pieces so do not relax when making your second one, it wont get much easier :rolleyes

Attempt No.2 is complete and came out MUCH better than the first.

I'll be starting the resin/fiberglass in the coming days.

WOO HOOO!!! Finally got my ink cartridge and started printing out some of the files tonight will have progress pics up soon! Now the fun begins ... and by the way just to share .... I found out my wife and I are having a baby just the other day!!!! great stuff this thing called life lol ....

Congratulations Sabre! My wife and I are trying to build a baby...but we're not super fertile youth anymore so we're still working on it.

Look forward to more progress pics!

Scaling question. I did the neck today and 'told' the printer not to fit items in (mssg was some items are outside the printable area, would you like them scaled to fit...or some such thing) The neck came out fine and I moved onto the collar plate and printed int the same fashion but the items didn't fit. So I did a reprint saying 'yes' this time to scaling, everything fit but I don't know if the size is appropriate. Any advice?

I should add the first time I did it without 'scaling' the everything didn't fit onto the page (ie items were cut off)

i have had that same question come up and always answer no ... i found it s usually just a small part of a corner or something that is not fitting right ... i printed the helmet neck seal and chest and finally got all three cut out ... i have been assembling the chest since last night but not done yet so looks like another day or two before it is done i will get some pics of it up so you can see what it turns out like ... your progress is coming along very nicely ... i will print the collar late and fit it to the neck seal to see if i get the same results but if they fit then maybe it will work good?

I figured out most items, the ones unfolded by blumberg are the ones I'm having trouble with. I got around most of it but the MKIV chest brace is an issue. I don;t know how to print it to make it work. I printed it in posted style so I could 'stitch' the pages together but it still cuts off some pretty big parts.

Any ideas?

The collar pieces unfolded by Jason02 work just fine

JMar what are all of your print settings? I printed out the MKIV chest brace and everything fit cleanly on the paper ... not sure if it will fit since i am not using the the MKIV parts so no chest to fit it with ...

oh yeah also if you find that a part does not fit on one piece of paper you could always use pepakura to add another cut edge to the piece and make it two pieces

I print in Pepakure Designer, not Viewer.. since I live in Europe I use A4 format instead of letter.. but it could also work the other way around

First I go to
Settings > Print and Paper settings
Here I set it A4 (sometimes I need to move pieces to fit on the paper)

Then before I print I go to:
File > Printer setup.
Here I make sure the printer is set to A4 aswell (weird that I have to change it since the printer is a A4 printer and should not be in Letter with default settings)

then before I print I check the printer settings again, but basicly I just changed then before this so it's always right..

now I wont get any scaling error which means it wont be scaled at all and it will be the size of the original model.

Sabre: do you mena you already printed to MKVI brace?

Also I only have pepakura viewer

Leander: I'll have to check into the setting. So far it's the only piece that's an issue I can;t work around. I mentioned earlier one person's unfold worked better than another's and solved most problems
