Iron man mark 4 build (klakus cast)

Another small update. I finally got the foam needed and made both the spats and neck. Neck still needs some additional work but fits well enough.

Todays update is pretty simple I ran the palm light batteries up to the elbow and added a jst connector. Im starting to regret the jb weld as its added a lot of weight to the forarm and I will now need to make them either super snug or have them attached to the biceps. I had wanted them more free floating for some ease of wearing and mobility but oh well.

Today was a bit of a setback. I took the ab and cod files and scaled them up 10% from jfcustoms unfold. It too is just too tight. But thankfully it is barely just. Another bump up and it should fit fine I believe.

I really hoped to have a full test fit this weekend but sadly itll have to another time.

Can you get the extra space out of sectioning the front and back (center)? I know it's not ideal, but would save rebuilding it all.

I imagine I could but its not that much of a money or time sink. 4-6 hours of work and 10 bucks in foam is frustrating but not so much so that salvaging it is necessary. That and im a bit rusty with foam work in general so the next one can be cleaner.

Agreed, I'm very proficient in foam, but those seams would still annoy me to no end.

Finally got new abs built. These are too large but at least wearable. Ill probably rebuild them and split the difference to really nail it. But overall not bad.

Thankfully some small alterations and now I can finally do a full test fit. Lots of little things to touch and work on now so

This has been a hectic week and little has been moved until recently but...

Paint has started in earnest.

Its not the greatest paint job. Ill do some touch ups and wetsand the clear and recoat and wax it probably. Gold comes in Monday and ill be able to mask off stuff by then. Ive also got a lot of wires and a few meters of super bright leds that will power the unibeam and the suits underglow. I know the mark 4 didnt have it and the 6 didnt have it until avengers but it looks too cool not to add to it.

99% of people will be in awe of it when you get done and won't even notice little paint or detail imperfections, especially with the secondary colors on. Looking forward to seeing yours done! (y)

Printed the unibeam. Two issues have immediately presented themselves. First is that it is too small and will need to be scaled up. Thats fine overall i can reprint and be ok.
Second is this thing is... bright. Like almost painfully bright. Cameras peak out at it and dont know what to do. And not sure what to do atm about that... ill figure it out at some point.

Finally got the gold paint in and started working on the painted parts. Looking ok so far. I think Ill like it a bit more with a little weathering to warm the gold up some.

Finally im also starting to prep the spine pieces so they can be glued on once done.

Some updates.
Unibeam is complete. I went with a white dimmable led system and am liking it much better. Also got it mounted along with some acrylic to the chest.

Quick update. Cod is remade and painted. Test fit shows it to be ok. Neck is painted as well and i see i need to adjust the right shoulder bell. Overall not the worst. The thighs are also going through paint and masking atm but with the rain they are on pause until weather clears up a bit.

Finally got the thighs painted and the spine in place. Some touch ups needed but itll look ok with a bit of weathering. I also picked up some wax and will take some 2k sandpaper to polish out some of the worst of the orange peel.

Today I start my karate kid training. Im sanding down the parts with 2k sandpaper and waxing them to get rid of the worst of the imperfections. It will still be no where near pefect but better than before.
Heres a good look at my sub par paintjob.

And after sanding and waxing:

And now two shins down. Just 20 more major pieces to go.
