Iron Man Extremis armour Comic/Movie mash up.

Oh man this is gonna b sweet. I love the idea of a movie concepted extremis armor so I'll be checking this thread out. When I think extremis and movie suits the mark 3 comes to mind, mainly the abs and shins. They were pretty smooth and solid which for me is extremis cause that was his most fluid suit at the time. I'm interested to see ur shoulder ideas cause movie suits were technical as where extremis were one solid piece that was more of a cover piece. And then there's ur helmet, can't imagine wat ur gonna for that!

Ok first things. Dead right the extremis suit was the premise for the MKIII.

As for design I think having slightly complex shoulders is important as long as the external shell is the same rounded shape it'll look well!
The helmet I'm gonna keep in the same style as the comics I doubt I'll change very much as It'd take away from the suits design.

Yeah they look decent but sadly there isnt much plating on their pilot suits so I wont be using it as a reference.

Also thanks! I think it was a bit messy but yeah it came out alright and deleted it cause of personal matters. I have a facebook page so most my work goes there!

Ok ab plates done! next thing to work is the harness for the under-frame on the abs, need it to be quite loose. After that Its Cod piece or collar and neck havent decided yet

Load more done today! very happy! the way the Thighs are gonna work is by allowing the top half to collapse into itself so I can avoid overstressing the pelvis and thigh joint.

Awesome. A collapsible top would be sweet too, that is by far the most annoying joint on a suit for me.

ok so been buys the past week got the forearms and shins done then reworked the Biceps to look a bit better!

I just cant wait to get started! earning some money tomorrow so gonna be flush to get my new blades, glue and foamex so should be templating by sunday if all goes well!

Also went to my mates today and got to mess with some spare foamex so I know what sizes I need and exactly how they act under heat and shiz so thats great!
gonna be gaining steam pretty quickly soon as I start

So next thing is helmet and then start doing the suit from behind... *Phrasing*

Suits looking sweet. Hey, I was watching the iron man anime and idk if u have seen it but the other dio suit looks a lot like extremis. The helmet diff had extremis written all over it. So I thought I'd share this and hope it helps wit the helmet. The mouth part I can deff see being in ur mash up, id just make the top pointy part of the face plate like the comic extremis

for software Im using paint tool Sai and drawing everything with vectors, after I've got the three profiles done then I'm going to move it into either 123D sketch up or into 3dSMax and build a 3D model. however I won't be using pepakura to build the suit the Model is purely for referencing during prototyping and everything I have one is subject to change as the designs are translated into real world parts


Also UPDATE! final one for awhile as well sadly as I have college exams in 2 weeks and need to knuckle down! but for now enjoy the final design on the front profile!

And dunno why but your first post didnt show up for me earlier! But yeah I saw that anime, it was heavliy inspired by the Extremis armour but that story was absolute **** =P


Should have the gloves completely and boots templates built relatively soon, (using styrene for the gloves) shouldnt be too long before I can start making some serious headway

no problem, stuff like that happens to me so no biggie. I havent made up my mind if im gonna make this one or another design which is the marvel NOW! comic armor. but the extremis is gonna be pep traced onto foam with a ton of modifying.

Modding pep files with freehand can be messy I tried that originally for my MK III space suit, but in the end the free hand chest looked inifitely better

Alright! got some work done now that exams are over! found my Old Extremis lid from my previous suit and realised the one I'd designed is massively flawed! so I redid it completely! heres how she looks now!



And for fun heres all the versions I went through to get the finished helmet!

And side view done! altered the look a lot more here now to really incorperate the films open close system for the helmet. Need to alter the front view a bit now for some of those new lines but its mostly finished! then onto the back!
