Re: Iron Man Costume from Puerto Rico (pepakura)

Hi, i have a little update, i'd have been busy looking for some extra cash to buy resin and for pay house bills, selling items here and on ebay, i got little lucky so i started with the foreams today i'll put resin on them.
Like i said before most of the pepakura items i had to cut or add paper. On these items i had to cut some.

Re: Iron Man Costume from Puerto Rico (pepakura)

This whole thing looks fantastic. You are doing a great job.

Re: Iron Man Costume from Puerto Rico (pepakura)

Thanks, the pieces got resined, it is hard to believe but right now is rainning:cry
as soon stop rainning fiberglass on them, by friday the complete forearms should be done.
Then hand armor cover....that is easy:)
Pelvis
ab section
New helmet
and
the gloves....that is hard to made:angry

Re: Iron Man Costume from Puerto Rico (pepakura)

the got all fiberglass, now bondo, filler and sanding:unsure

Re: Iron Man Costume from Puerto Rico (pepakura)

I just finished the forearms, i still thinking how atach the handplate to the forearm, and the top armor gloves cover, i got an idea based on photos and short video but:wacko....any help please
Here some photos and a little diagram on how i will make the asembly but i'm not happy with it.

Re: Iron Man Costume from Puerto Rico (pepakura)

what if.... you attach the top of the handplate to the fore arm with a small section of piano hinge? it would keep everything square at all times. just a thought....

Re: Iron Man Costume from Puerto Rico (pepakura)

Gracias Boricua, dark knight that idea sound cool i will consider it, the video making suit IM2 i saw this image on top of the armor gloves it has two holes :confused

Re: Iron Man Costume from Puerto Rico (pepakura)

I did a little work on the gloves armor, but i will be on hold until my leather gloves arrives, now i will start with the pelvis area

Re: Iron Man Costume from Puerto Rico (pepakura)

the gloves are (armor) sintra, then when i finish i will add some fiberglass in some areas under the sintra.

Re: Iron Man Costume from Puerto Rico (pepakura)

A better method for attaching the hand plate to both the glove and wrist guard is some simple red nylon stretchy coord.

First pin the front of the plate to the glove where it should be resting, then wire up the nylon to both the glove And where it should rest on the arm, hooking that to the edge of the armguard not thru it.

If we look at the HT 1/6scale replica figurine of the Mk 3, you'll see that the plate in question is not actually part of the forarm armor, but instead hooked into a rotating disk around the wrist (which in reality would be part of the armguard's Mouth, then the plate would be hooked onto the hand, so it can move when you bend your hand back n forth, but rotate with the armguard/hand)

hope this helps. I'm working on my own IM build, i'm just not ready to start a thread untill i feel there's something substantial to post (read it's going to dang slow due to my work schedual)

Re: Iron Man Costume from Puerto Rico (pepakura)

With talent like yours, why - WHY would you want to buy an Iron Man suit? :confused

I have an idea how you could (possibly) get some more $$ to help buy resin, etc.: you said you made a detailed video of the actual costume. I, for one, would gladly purchase reference materials! What's cool about marketing your own video is that you are selling your own work - so there's no copyright hassles!

As a matter of fact, I was going to post that question as soon as I found the proper thread: Where can I find good reference material?

BTW, did I reads correctly that your armor is scaled to a 6'2" figure? I'm 6'2" :lol

Re: Iron Man Costume from Puerto Rico (pepakura)

Thanks for the help, In the web site SIWDAT.com - Login, i found some extra great reference photos, a long time i was thinking to buy one IM suit, but no money so i had to decide to do it, i never did a suit that have a lot of armor, it is too much time to make :wacko at least it is cheap to make, i just spend less than $200 on materials for now let see how much money i need to paint it, lights ect.......
This suit it should be for a person 6'1 tall but it can fit from 5'9" to 6'3" making the right adjustment, but I don't know how to do large mold for this kind of suit :confused. I'm trying get info of how to do it just in case.

Re: Iron Man Costume from Puerto Rico (pepakura)
