Re: Iron Man Costume from Puerto Rico (pepakura)

Here is some photos of the cod and thighs and some extra details and the new triceps. Torso is already fiberglass, i will take a few day off, next week the torso should be done, with that piece i will be able to put the complete armor together to see how it looks.
Then i will fix the calves and shin areas of the lower legs, gloves and new helmet. :love

Hi, I'm looking for very good close up photos of the back lower legs of ironman Mark 3, specially the calves area.
Thanks for any helps.
Here are a couple of photos that I have found here and there. I also added one from the Hot Toyz model. Hope they help and awesome progress on your suit.

Thanks guy for all the comments and help, i had been a little sick and tired:sick, i just finished pep the new IM helmet last night, this one look better, today i will resin it and i will back to work with the torso.
Torso is almost 60% done
Gloves 40% done
new helmet it is pep only
Need to work the calves area

I believe 3 more weeks it will be done without painting:wacko ,

Re: Iron Man Costume from Puerto Rico (pepakura)

I'm still in the planning/research/pep-file-gathering stage for my build. Your armor is a true inspiration!

It wouldn't surprise me a bit if, when you finished, you put it on, it powered up and you took off into the skies!

Like many others here, I look forward to your updates!

Re: Iron Man Costume from Puerto Rico (pepakura)

A litte update, i 'm still working with the torso, i found out that IM back should have 5 vertebral, the pep files has only 4, I know..... it just the back area who cares 4,5, or 7, but i want to make the best i can, it is a personal challenge.
At the same time i started with the new IM HD helmet, on my opinion i found that dubean33 sharkhead HD v2, is one of the best out there, He did a good job but is still missing some detail most of them easy to fix with paper and bondo, How i do this conclusion?
It is a cheap way and the same time a smart way too, i use a ruler, my computer and start measure. Then just compare, the photo with the one your making or before you start pepakura cutting and gluing (ther are a lot helmet files) just print one or two pages specially the one that has the faceplate and uses the ruler and compare.
here is a little example photos how i do it cause my broken english is bad

Re: Iron Man Costume from Puerto Rico (pepakura)

I use this procedure on all the iron man armor parts and other costume too, remenber try to find good references photos of all diferents angles if you can, then with the computer increase or dicrease depends how tall you want it, i have two large (6'1"-6'2") ironman poster, and i use my ruler print some pep files and compare, the similar ones "bingo", but most of the pep files are not 100% accurate, so cut and add paper all depend how accurate you want it.

Re: Iron Man Costume from Puerto Rico (pepakura)

Thanks, i just finished for today the new helmet, it got primer and some filler on a lot diferent spot, it looking great few more days it will be done.

Re: Iron Man Costume from Puerto Rico (pepakura)

Maul, did you fiberglass your helmet as one piece or in separate pieces? I'm about ready to fiberglass my own helmet but I am worried that if I do it in separate pieces then the resin my deform the fit of the faceplate on the rest of the helmet.

I could resin it as one piece and cut it out later but how much of a pain would it be to build the side edges back up?

Re: Iron Man Costume from Puerto Rico (pepakura)

Thanks for thoses great comments that is motivation for me to continue with this costume.
Yes my friend i did fiberglass to the complete helmet, then after that cut the 3 pieces, now i'm doing the borders and corners with foam cardboard a little fiberglass on top of all little details.
I know it is a lot extra works but and the end it is worthy. I'd been working my new helmet for 4 days now, 2 or 3 more days it will be done on primer that without paint, padding, leds and mechanical up and down for the face plate.
But remenber this ... the helmet or mask is the most important part for any costume. So don't give up. Good luck:thumbsup

Re: Iron Man Costume from Puerto Rico (pepakura)

Is that all primer and bondo over a pep file? it almost looks like clay is some of your pics.

Amazing work. very inspiring stuff.

Re: Iron Man Costume from Puerto Rico (pepakura)
