Thx! I used 5mm EVA foam overall. And 10mm for chest and back. Also the cod is 10mm. And the 'neck part' of the chest piece is also 5mm. I never overlay any foam, But i do glue allot of it a bit deeper or higher to create the difference like on the real suit. So like just half the edge. But i might add more tips and explenation on how i did it this weekend when i have time.

UPDATE TIME!

Hey guys, sorry that it took me so long to do another update. This weekend was all about fixing broken .. yes :( broken parts of the suit. But i made some progress aswell!

I had to fix some parts on the abs (a part tore off). Also I glued them stuck on one side , so now only 1 side is velcro the other is permanent. And a cable on one of my gloves came lose from the LED circuit board. But I was able to fix that aswell (and hell it was!)

I guess these sort of things happen when its your first time crafting a suit. This stuff is hard man!

Anyway for the update I made a complete left boot! I only need to copy the work on a right one and the last major part is done!

Almost there, tomorrow the other boot and neck. And then all that awaits is the helm....

Building a mark suit sure looks tempting.. This being your first foam build, on a scale from 1-10 (where 10 is very easy and 1 is very hard), how hard/easy is this build for you?

Oh, well its my first build ever so its kinda hard to compare it with other stuff. Although working with the material for a while now, looking at the detail and structure of the parts. This might be a 5-10 changing from part to part. If i look at how a mark 3 is build and the structure of those parts it really does seem easier. But I can't know that for sure as i didn't make a mark 3 yet :p

Thx again ironmaided, really nice to see that you follow my thread. I know its been a while for updates. But i'm finishing the last boot while I'm making this post :p. And then only the neck and helm are left. I was going to make a pep /fibreglass helm. But I think just to stick with the theme, i will make the helm out of foam aswell. Paint the whole suit, enjoy it. And then leave pep and fibreglass for my second project.

It's great. Nice to see such good and quality work.

Why our eva foam is different in your country and other and in Russia? I tried to find the same, but nothing except the EVA's yoga mats :(
My eva is constantly bends, so it's too hard to keep shape... Ah, sorry, stepped away from the topic.

Lol, you know it took me 2 months to track a seller who sells eva foam that i can actually see before purchasing. I was so happy i found a store who sold exactly what i need.

Great job man. I'm still stuck where I was two weeks ago since school and holidays are taking up all of my time. Good to see you are making great progress. Can't wait to see more pics as you go on.

Hey guys!

YES I AM STILL ALLIVE :p

Sorry it has been so long since an update. Stuff came up work, family etc... But i finally got a move on again. I'm now working on a foam version of the helmet so i can finish the full suit. (I will then later make a pep + bondo one as a seperate project)

Here are some pic's. Its gonna be 3 parts: faceplate, body of helm and the lower part (so i can put it on). Research has showed me that a good scaled helmet is impossible to put on without removing the back part. And trust me i had scaling issues :'(. I have 2 half finished oversized helmets laying around. I used the default on Gimpee's files and they fit perfectly.

Anyway here are some really quick pictures of the helm. (I know faceplate doesn't bend right just yet, but i'll fix that with PVA glue etc later )

After the helm i only got hip plates left and some rigging and then finally the painting can start. ( which scares me ALLOT :()

What a MASTERWORK!! I'm building a Mark 42 too, but I don't know how to change the scale value for my hight :( I'm 1m80, almost the same as you Hoplitespear..what value did you use?? It fits damn perfectly on you! (I'm "studying" the Gaiatron ones)

Hey man, Thank you verry much for the compiments. If i get home i'll PM you with some things on how I did the scaling. At work now. I also recently restarted this project, finished the helm yesterday. Its not perfect but it will do. Mainly focussing on getting it finished now.
