Iron Man 3 Armor Revealed!

also the red at certain angles looks like it may have some kind of texturing, almost a walnut style. personally I'd love some texturing on it and after reading the Iron Man 3 live panel rundown some footage got shown that does have extremis style suit bits where parts of the suit fly across the room and build around him (supposedly the cod piece causes an issue!) so that'll be why it's a bit more streamlined.

the movie suits always had been imperfect and had that "orange peel" on the red paint (more evident in the IM2 if you use the special features on the blu-ray). And in the Extremis comic movie had a red crinkle paint for the texture. And the movie War Machine wasn't matte black. It's black crinkled paint.

I love new Iron Man! Awsome photos dude. I hope that there's a bit more red on the suit in the film, perhaps this is like a pshyc out, sort of like the coverings on prototype test vehicles.

Glad you all like my pictures. All of my 2012 San Diego Comic-con International pictures can be found at my 2012-07-09 to 2012-07-16 - 2012 San Diego Comic-con International Flickr gallery. If you click on the page link for any of my images and then click on the magnifying glass, you will have access to link to full resolution images.

Due to my work with the show, I was graciously granted access to the move suits on display. Aside from what was posted, below are sample images of the other movie suits on display.

Based on the detail that I could see up close, these seemed like static displays. The Mark I, II and III seemed different than the ones that were put on display by Stan Winston School of Art at the 2010 SDCC.

I have a thread up in the Replica prop section, been there for awhile. More parts are in the process of being acuired. ;)
BTW these where on auction way back not like they are rare jsut hard to find people who will give them up.

would love to see these "production made" pieces.

that's real convenient for you to mention, but cool story bro.

Chuey thanks for the pics. Always appreciated them :)

The way this suit is layered and how it has many mechanical elements showing, it leads me to believe that it may be some sort of compact armor like the Mark V. Maybe in the form of a backpack (seeing how the back is really the only part that doesn't have THAT many layers or mechanical elements).

footage from the IM3 panel brief description
"Tony Stark is in his tech workshop about to test out his new Mark VIII suit. He asks Jarvis to play some seasonal music, and puts on Run DMC’s Christmas in Hollis. He then begins the process of putting on his armor by striking a pose with his hand out, his body is the remote for his new suit. He slaps his wrist and strikes a pose again.
All of a sudden, his glove flies across the room and awesomely attaches itself to Stark’s hand. He then proceeds to call over more pieces, and they come flying at him at a rapidly, one hits him and knocks him over, but he uses his rocket gloves to keep him from hitting the ground. Some of the other pieces are hitting things in the room and breaking them, but they eventually all finally attach to him. The last piece to attach itself to him is his face mask, and Stark has to fly and flip over, as it rockets towards his face upside down. He land on the ground in his classic three-point Iron Man pose. "

I'll have to see it for final judgement, but... ugh.

Believe it or not, I have access to high def (200mb) full body shots of the suit straight from Marvel. I won't disclose who I am or where I work because I don't want to get into any trouble but since the suit has been shown already, I guess I can start showing some of the art work.

The suit is very detailed, it will pose a challenge for any person trying to pep a whole suit because of the fine details...the same holds true for the helmet.

I'm new to modeling so what I created is pretty rough. I used 3ds max to model and then I transferred it to pepakura. In my post, you will see a snapshot of the front profile, one shot of the 3ds max model and the pepakura model.

I will not release the high def files so please don't ask. However, I will probably upload my pep file in the future.

Enjoy

That is more like it Whit. Almost exactly how it should look. The thighs could do without that zigzag part. Nice job though.
