Interesting article on new xbox

They're not going to squash any rumors because they're probably all true or they'll do it later on. They have terrible PR.

Seems odd to me that they're not addressing ANY of the important stuff people care about, like the always online crap or the pre-owned game blocking.

So far it was a decent presentation. Nowhere near as good as the Playstation 4's. Sony focused more on the system itself and the gameplay whereas MS just kinda spread it out. The kinect stuff was pretty damn cool though.

I'm not overly impressed by what they showed game wise because it all just looked like cinematics and not actual gameplay footage apart from Call of Duty Ghosts. So far it looks cool but I'll definitely be interested to see what they can churn out in a couple years when they really have a grasp of the system.

The system itself is actually very bland. The Xbox and Xbox 360 had a unique look and you could pick them out of a lineup no problem. This system is just a big black box. The controller is decent and I'm glad they went with the classic style Dpad instead of the current one.

The name is honestly pretty stupid. It just goes to show that they're more focused on an all around entertainment system as opposed to a gaming console. I would of preferred Xbox Infinity. Infinite possibilities, infinite uses, etc. So many catchy tag lines.

As for the rumours. There's one of two possibilities. One, they aren't true and they chose to ignore them. Or two, they are true or somewhat true and they didn't want to announce them today because they would completely overshadow everything else in the presentation. All anyone would take away from today's show is it requires Internet and no backwards compatibility. Rest be damned.

IGN just posted a new article. Their website is messed up right now so I'll copy the article here.

From IGN:

"Shortly after the Xbox Reveal event today, Microsoft revealed that its new console does not require a constant internet connection.
According to Spike TV's Geoff Keighley, Microsoft's Don Mattrick confirmed that the Xbox One is not "always on."

Same here. I'm actually going to get a spare 360 asap to have on hand for future use. I'm not planning on these new systems for at least 3 years until the bugs are worked out. Well i'm getting a WiiU at some point. I got Sony winning this one.

"Xbox One" I thought that one came out TWELVE years ago.... :facepalm
I have both original xbox and a 360... 10 360's if you include all nine dead ones, RROD yaaay. And I was expecting to get a next-gen system. 8GB of ram? That's it??? That's not even "current gen".

The console design itself.... what were they thinking? It definitely can't get any more boxy, that's for sure.

8gb of ram is a veritable **** ton compared to the 360's 512mb. Also, it has to have some kind of competitive price. Frankly, more than 8gb on a pc is overkill for the time being anyway.

been waiting for someone to bring up the fact that the Kinect needs ROOM for it to function properly, my living room is one weird shape, the kinect doesn't really know what to do with it, so i unplugged it. cant see a bunch of collage kids using these things in there 8x8 dorm rooms (collage kids being the game industry's bread and butter

it is an ugly little thing isnt it, oh well

I think Sony won this first round over Microsoft in the next gen war. Guess we'll see what happens in round two at E3.

I got early access to the new Xbox 1, time to go try it out.
