Indiana Jones Voodoo Doll - Tutorial - FINISHED !

Someone is having difficulties scaling the patterns, printing to size etc. He may not be alone, so here is a mini-tutorial of how to do it in Photoshop.

Showing the head, as it is at a tilt as it is.

The rest is easier, as they are straight.

WOW ! Fantastic materials you used there ! And the proportions are perfect :thumbsup

So glad you found the tutorial easy to follow :)

Great tutorial, but I wish you could have gone into a little more detail... :lol

Thanks for the time and energy you put into that - totally great!

Awesome tutorial!
Thanks for your time and sharing.

A nice little project for me to do next weekend.

For anyone who has tried this, are you having trouble getting the right size balsa wood? The widest I can find is 3in(7.6cm). I can make that work for the head. But the hat needs to be at least another inch. I've checked all the brick and mortar hobby stores in the area and the craft stores don't carry it. Their websites don't list that size either.
Can someone recommend a place to order it, so I don't have to keep sifting through Google results? Otherwise, I'm going to have to try gluing two smaller pieces together before cutting or making the hat in two halves, then gluing them.
Any suggestions?

Amy, I got the strip of balsa I used from the model aircraft building section of a hobby shop. They have all sizes of HUGE strips of balsa. Try looking at that hobby to source.

This one of the coolest turtorials. Extremely informative and keeping the interest with jokes. I may have to take a stab at this sometime with my own version. Thanks for posting and bleeding for us, Alan. :)

Hey, another quick question. What program do you use to resize the pattern images? My scanner will adjust the length, but won't proportionally increase the width. I don't have Photoshop, and I haven't figured out how to do this in Paint. If no one has any suggestions, could someone just tell me what the actual measurement should be at its widest point?
Edited to add: Most of the programs I'm trying won't let me resize by anything other than pixels.

Hey Alan, I been thinking. Don't you think it's time for a "leap" painting tutorial just in time for Christmas? ;)

Best

Wow, a blast from the past :lol I haven't made one of those in years ! Those are not difficult at all though.

1 print.
Stick on thin wood.
Cut out background planks. Stain. Stick together.
Stick thin wood on planks.

:lol

Seriously, that's it ! :)
