Indiana Jones revolver

Hey Psab,
I was just going to DM you whether you were still interested in the Tanaka.
So Adam. It’s all yours. Let me check how much I paid and I’ll prepare the package and check on shipping via usps.

Hey el toro I appreciate the offer but like I said I'd rather see it go to Adam considering I have a few pieces that work for my collection.

Solos blaster Happy to help! :D

Well I escalated my claim with PayPal for a full refund. I never received a letter from Customs despite being told by FedEx and multiple customs officers that I should have got one by now. I was given a reference number to the seizure which I provided. Hopefully PayPal will rule in my favor. I've had buyers screw me over with buyer protection a few times and I've lost my item and my money so perhaps they will help me out. Not that it's the seller's fault but I also don't want to lose the money. The seller told me that Tanaka does in fact have the right to reproduce these items yet Smith and Wesson is claiming they don't. So frustrating.

That does sound frustrating. Unfortunate, but thanks for posting your experience with this.

Well I figured I'd share my experience as a means of venting but also to try and help others avoid the annoyances that I'm dealing with.

There is another company that I can get the identical items from and while they could cover up the markings and everything I am hesitant to do so for fear of seizure. Plus now that I opened a claim with PayPal I don't want it to cause any issues with trying to get my refund.

I don't blame you at all.

Psab keel. Man, I didn't even get a chance to dispute my case. it's already being shown a new tracking number and is on it's way back. I tried calling the customs but all I got was a voice message and no lines to any customer service rep. I also went through paypal for my refund as well. So now waiting to hear back from the seller. All this is extemely frustrating.

Damn it, I really wanted one of those M1917s, but now these stories are making me very nervous about getting one from an overseas retailer. I wish one of the big US based airsoft sellers would carry it.

It's really a roll of the dice I guess. I think Psab keel and I are the only ones out of the what...5-7 people who have gotten them without any problems. I guess it depends on how badly you want one...but it appears there may be someone who ships them in with the markings covered so maybe ask Psab keel about that one? Is it the same price through them lol?

Solos blaster while it's infuriating that yours are being sent back hopefully they arrive in one piece and the retailer will refund you in full. I don't know if I will be so lucky. I have to contact customs again because without the seizure letter I may be up a creek.

There are 3D printed kits on Etsy, sadly whoever came up with the files has no idea what a M1917 S&W revolver looks like.

But, for under $75 I don't expect perfection

I wouldn't even take a chance buying this particular model from ASJ at this point. Looks like their packages are now on customs' radar.

So, was the package returned to Japan, and they resent it to you?

Real S&W M1917s run around $650-$900 in good condition. I have seen a couple of Used/Parts versions sell for around $150. If you don’t want to use live ammo they would work fine. You could always demilitarize them according to ATF guidelines.

that’s a pla or resin printed model? The paint job and finishing look good. Honestly it looks like a Tanaka in that photo.

It's PLA. The revolver looks like a mashup of a Schofield revolver from the recoil shield back, a Colt shaped trigger guard, S&W cylinder release, and Colt barrel and front sight.

Edit: Looked again and they also have a version with the Colt cylinder release.

Again, the only thing off on the Colt is the Schofield shaped back part of the frame. And the lack of the lanyard ring on the butt.

I'm sure the inaccuracies could easily be tweaked.

Sorry for any confusion. Fed ex gave it a new tracking number and is shipping it back to the seller because it was rejected by customs.

Psab keel, I don’t know if your original tracking number is active or not, but my tracking page shows that it was denied and had the new number listed to track it going back to Japan.Maybe fedex can give you some info that shows it was changed or otherwise to show you aren’t receiving them?

I'll have to reach out to FedEx on my next day off to see if there is any indication of the airsofts being returned to Japan. I hope that ends up being the case because if they get destroyed then I can kiss that money goodbye. At least if Airsoft Japan gets them back intact then maybe they will be more amenable to refund me less any return shipping costs. I could live with that.
