In honor of the Peanuts movie this weekend...

That's so cool ... thanks for sharing :)

Man that's great work on an old vintage kit. I remember building it back in the day and many other Snoopy kits.
They need to reissue them.

Thanks guys!
WesR: Yes they do make a vintage Red Baron kit. From time to time they are on eBay. If you google "Snoopy Sopwith Camel", one of the guys from Hobby Talk... his picture of both kits comes up.
Jazz: The Monogram Snoopy kit comes with a motor for the prop. Runs on a AA. On the stand it shakes a little... like it's really flying.
CessnaDriver: The kit came off of eBay years ago. Most of the sealed kits I see go for around $150, built kits $25 to $75 depending on condition. I wish also they (Revell) would reissue.

Yep, produced by Monogram as a companion kit to Snoopy and his Sopwith Camel:

It's not horrible and it matches the Snoopy kit pretty well, but it is a little tame. I much prefer Revell's Der Baron and his Funfdecker Fokker kit designed by Dave "Big" Deal:

It isn't motorized like the Monogram kit, but I suppose it could be with a little creative engineering.

I like the Revell one better too. You'd think they'd have reissued these to go with the movie honestly.

Revell knows how "in demand" the Snoopy and his Sopwith Camel kit is right now but, according to them, the Schulz estate is unwilling to issue licensing for "new" merchandise (this kit falls into that category because the previous license expired long ago, so a new licensing deal would have to be created). They might be convinced if the new movie is a huge hit, but only time will tell.

Revell has reissued some of the Big Deal car and airplane kits in recent years, including Der Baron, and I think you can still find them on evilBay and through other sources. But, of course, except for the vague connection to the Red Baron, none of them have anything to do with Snoopy.

Thanks Rogue, now that I look at it closer, I probably went heavy on the weather but I wanted Snoopy to look like he was on the front line.
Thanks SofaKing, glad you like it that much!

I'm so thrilled to see this build, that model is one of my fondest childhood memories, and to see it built so beautifully almost brings a tear to my eyes! Just awesome work, thanks for sharing it with us!

I LOVE this!
Especially the "raccoon eyes" from Snoopy's goggles :)

And I don't think it's over-weathered.
Just in the wrong places a little bit maybe.
The cowlings usually stayed pretty clean.
It was the fuselage behind the cowling that got all oily and smokey.
It doesn't matter to me - I still love it!

Axloti,
Good point, I can fade the weathering on the cowl and and a little more behind.
Trying to get water marks on the wings was a challenge but think they turned out ok.
