Back to the armor!

I decided I needed to at least finish one piece of the armor before starting on the next thing, so I decided to add the trim to the gauntlets and actually paint something gold.

Drew up some detailing based on the cimematic closeups and got to work making the detailing out of Sintra. I dont trust myself enough to sculpt apoxie sculpt onto it, so sintra it is. These gauntlets are essentially my test bed for the detailing and paintjob.. could change on other sections of the armor. After a lot of cutting and sanding..

Going to try something sneaky now to round the edges.. lets see if it works.

***** man your work just keeps improving, soon youll have to hire help and open your own shop somewhere, lol this looks awesome, cant wait to see the rest, are you still doing commissions for others or just working on your own costumes for now

Thanks guys!

Making more of the same thing doesnt feel much like progress, but as I had to remake an entire mold (babys first silicone mold was terrible! v2 was much better) here it is! The first cast of the shoulder and the final remake of the gauntlet. Going to be making a bunch of these over the weekend, hopefully I can see how it looks sitting on the chest piece!

Well, made 4 casts of the shoulder, cleaned them up and hooked them together, made the little connecting spiked bit that goes onto them and managed to get them attached to the breastplate in a mostly sane and very strong fashion. Now I just need to make it all pretty!

I just stumbled upon this thread, like everyone else has said, simply amazing. Words cant describe how killer this looks. I cant WAIT to see it finished. I loved that character from the game, seeing it in real life... I would probably lose my ****.

Finished the third inner shoulderplate and made a couple vac pulls of it. After attaching them to the rest I just had to try it on to see how the size looked on my person. What do you think?

I'm pretty happy with the proportions so far, guess its detailing time!

What do I think? I think I want one.

Question: Did you vac-pull the inner shoulder plate because there was less detail on it? I'm just curious since you said you cast the other shoulder pieces.

Yeah it was smaller, had a lot less detail on it and I wanted it to be lightweight as possible. The pull matches the rest of it pretty well, and it took less then an hour to make the master for it.

Djinn great job brah those shoulders look great they match up /w/ th' chest piece beautifully very proportionate too keep up th' good work. :p:cool:

I didn't realize you were doing this for Blizzcon! It will be awesome to see this in person. :D I may be attempting an Auriel build for Blizzcon after SDCC is over.

More progress on the gauntlets and the first piece to get painted gold! Sizing works on my arm, we'll see what it looks like overall. Still hard to tell without the hand plates and whatever ill be wearing under it all + chainmail. Still.. its shiny.

"SILENCE!"

Damn, dude. I've said it before but awesome work. I'm not saying this just because there's an adorable dog in the background, too. =P Loving the gold on the bracer btw, what is it?

Started on the hardest part of all of this mess today - the Helmet.

I ripped apart the Imperius ingame models helmet and cut it down to just the base shape - then made a pattern to build it as a base.
Patterns look cool.

With that done, I used a heat gun superglue tape and hope to force the two patterns into a extremely rough and incredibly ugly shape of the main helmet section. Hopefully this will be a lot cleaner and a lot better looking by the end of this weekend, but humble beginnings for sure.

Much more progress to come tomorrow - I needed to get this shape into existence before I could make it pretty, and atleast that happened today. This is going to be a VERY tight fitting helmet.
