for my belt, I was thinking of starting with a basic black weight lifting belt, and adding some leather to it. anyone have any suggestions as to what kind of leather (or imitation leather) would be best to use and where to acquire it?
I wanted to use a weight lifting belt to start out with but I can only find a half moon shape so I'm making mine. He has two belts one that has a big back support and belt loops, then a smaller one that laces in the back and goes through the belt loops and connects to the cod piece. Then the holsters connect to it.

Is leather working something you've done in the past, or are you taking it on because a belt is a good starting point?
As for me, I have a weight belt that's close enough, then modifying it with some leather I have around from older projects to make the cod-piece/holster belt.
Just getting into it. I've made a few things, shoulder holsters for my once upon a time in Mexico costume and some wrist bands so we will see. My starting point has been pretty good
Welp, after multiple failed attempts trying to form my pauldrons with PETG (the edges kept buckling) I decided to try the mannequin butt approach. while the curvature and size of the buns resulted in me ending up with pauldrons a bit smaller than I wanted, I consider them a success, and I'm happy with them. One step closer!
