I'll begin with the fact that I'm 51 and I've never built a costume before. However, this year I decided that Immortan Joe was something that I could actually pull off and enjoy. So for the last four weeks I've been quietly slaving on a Joe costume using the builds on these forums as both inspiration and design guides. My gosh I've learned a lot, and had I known how much work it was going to be I probably wouldn't have done it.
I chatted with rawrbomb on facebook and he gave me some great pointers (thanks man!) He also said that Immortan Joe is the one costume that he actively discourages people from attempting at Cons. It looks easy but it ain't. So given that I'm pretty proud of pulling it off as my first costume. Also thanks to Mason Bartlett of ImmortalProps for the centerpiece mask.
Last weekend I entered a costume contest at a private party with about 50 guest, some of whom had pretty nice costumes. My biggest challenge to winning was the sheer number of people who hadn't seen the movie. But the elaborate costume and attention to detail won the day.
I doubt that I can add much to what has been said in these threads previously about how to make the various parts, but if anyone has questions about how I did something feel free.
This week - the bellows.
