If you could design armor for a stormtrooper??

I was thinking...If you were in charge of creating a suit of armor for the Stormtroopers in Star Wars would you be happy with how they are or would you design them differently. For example, do Stormtroopers really need armor near or at their butt crack? It seems to me that with all the technology in Star Wars world, that these suits are not really that effective. Let's see what you would do....

Oh I like this one :)
Gotta have something to land on when and if you fall back, so yes you need butt armor, or at least pads.
Eyes would have to be clear for maximum vision, with slide-in shades. Knees and elbows have ot be thick hard material for butting and kicking/kneeling. Better be pretty thick on the torso as well.

look back to knights armor as for what real armor did for battle, form and function. In reality, its a decent design. Mobile, simple, interchangable but the helmet has its visual flaws which everyone who has worn one knows.
Hope I am not the only one to knock over small kids and step on a dog.

Heck, I don't need armor to do that. :)

This idea is intriguing... I think I will sketch something in the near future... ;)

More flexible chest piece and a helmet with greater visibility.

Whenever I wear my FX suit I can't help feeling as if I am really just stumbling around.

Have you seen the new game Mass Effect? That's how I'd design Stormtrooper armor. Part flexible, part hard armor. The Fett helmet has a lot better range of visibility so I'd combine that with the original stormtrooper helmets in some way.

My first design priority would be to make sure it actually stopped blaster bolts. Leia got shot, no armor, it was just a flesh wound. A stormtrooper takes a hit from anything - blaster, small rock, you name it - he's down for the count. Their armor must actually magnifiy the damage received.

How many female troopers you see around, I'm thinking this is one of the most important peices of armor... :p
