I AM LEGEND - the pistol!

Hi folks,

Since the rifle was recently posted, I thought I'd show you all some progress pics on a pretty fun little project - repainting the HK SOCOM to resemble Will Smith's pistol in I am Legend.

This is an airsoft pistol, albeit a very nice, rare, KSC gas blowback "heavyweight" version with metal slide.

She's also a big girl...the grid marks are 1 inch.

As you can tell from the relative size of my thumb, this is a SMALL allen key, that removes even smaller parts! (which then release even smaller parts and springs and doodads-a nerve-wracking experience).

Here she is all stripped down as much as I was able, and then masked for painting.

Drying...this was, by the way, an air-drying epoxy paint designed for firearms...by Brownell's. I'll let you nerds in the group spot and ID some of the cool toys in the background!

Ready for .45 caliber mutant capping action!

One more - hope you all enjoyed the show! :)

Great job!

As a fellow Cyclist, what caught my eye were the bikes in the background! :lol

LOL at Apollo! :) That bike in the far left corner is my pride and joy...a 29" singlespeed Jeff Jones Spaceframe. :cool You can't see the 3 FAT Chances that are in this room either. :love I think I MAY have more cash sunk into bikes than props!

Thanks for all of the compliments! I gotta say, I really like the Brownell's gun paint. The only drawbacks are 1) Price (about $23 shipped) 2) cure time and 3) limited colors. However, if you want to have a durable epoxy coat, this is some nice stuff. It comes out of the can a little thick, but you can still get a nice coat. I think it worked particularly well, since the SOCOM has such a bumpy texture. I'm not sure I'd use it for a high gloss Vader helmet! You'd probably have to do a lot of buffing.

Tain, I'm not sure...I need to rewatch the movie this week. (I fell asleep the last time, because I started watching it after midnight!)
