HP3 Marauders Map

I've found an interesting resource for those interested in creating this map: "Medieval Woodcut Illustrations"

It's clearly one of the inspirations the artists drew from in creating the map cover illo. Click through the "Look Through This Book" to see what I mean: very similar treatments of wall shading, doorways, etc. I have the book and some of the other city drawings are even more dead on.
 
Well, I was able to down load the newest version of the Quicktime Clone program that enabled me to visit the Official HP Site.

Still trying to get some clear screen caps without the banners and that damn shrunken head that keeps getting in the way.

So far I at least have an idea of the direction to go in now.

I would pull caps from the widescreen dvd and the fullscreen as the fullscreen will show some parts of the map that the W/S doesn't show b/c of different formatting.
 
OK here it is.
I finally capped the map off the Official site.

Took a while to get them without all the banners and such.
These where place in Photo Shop at 100dpi even though they are 72dpi off the net.
For posting I knocked them back down to 72 so the images are smaller than they appear on the actual web site.

If anyone wants a larger version or a particular image let me know.

Thought I'd bump this back from the edge.

I'm still collecting images and looking for suitable materials to make it with.

Stupid little town I live in doesn't have any decent art supplies.

Not yet, just found a few more images yesterday.
And did a prototype for the little pop up stair cases.
Will probably start mapping it out this weekend on regular paper.

I've been looking for the correct color ink and the paper.
That's one big piece of parchment.

Guess if I have the time next week end I will have to go to Berkeley to look for materials.
Slight detour from WonderCon.

Doesn't help that I have projects for other people going on.

I've been going over all my pictures and decided I will need to do 2 versions.

and the full open version that was seen on Lupin's desk and Harry's dorm room.

I have images that cover almost all the details for both.
The half open will be suitable for framing.

This may be the way to go, especially for the half open version since it would be a well seen show piece.

I think Goat #4 looks the closest.
Better than Deer #2

I have a scan of the marauder's map front. It's the best pic i've seen. I want to post it but can't. how do I use wacky-chimps website?
