Howard S Studios Has Moved... To A New Shop!!

As much as I like the shop, my favorite part is actually the assembly tables! Did you build them yourself? I have been meaning to build one for my woodshop.

Howard, what size of "life-size raptors" are you gonna build? The 60 lb. Velociraptor Mongoliensis, the 160 lb. Deinonychus, or the monstrous Utahraptor, which weighed a ton at 9' tall and 20' long? Or, you could just make up your own size, like Spielberg did, in JP. Whatever you do, though, my recommendation is to not give them feathers. I realize there's new evidence out there that these (and many other therapods) may have been feathered to some extent, but in my opinion, the addition of feathers to a dinosaur seriously detracts from its coolness.

The Wook

JP version all the way... I love the movie versions which are in fact inaccuarate but are my favorites for sure ;)

Yup, this place was 100% bare when I got there two weeks ago... built three islands and the bench that wraps the inside corner :D It's my favorite part too! The two islands are 8' by 4' feet and the sculpting one is 4' by 4'... they also roll so I can move them around for big projects or even clamp them together for bigger molds, large scale painting projects, etc...

Congrats on the new shop. Looks like it was set up to be a good nurturing environment for sparkling new ideas you can dazzle us all with! :thumbsup

Nah-ah... the coolness factor of the feathered raptors is that you can look out your window today and see their descendants. That's pretty damn cool to me. :thumbsup

Jurassic Park 1/2 style or the JP3 style with the frills and curved snout bone and thinner lower jaw?

Always loved the pose of the one coming through the plastic at the end of the first movie and snapping at the heroes... that little tilt of the head when it withdraws its head is just spectacular.

Congrats Howard! :cheers

I can't wait to see the awesome work that is going to be coming out of there!
