How Would You Mount This On the Helmet?

I'm making a cosplay for an up and coming game called ARC Raiders that has an aesthetic very near to Star Wars - retro-futuristic and super scuffed. The bottom line is I want to put the old Duracell Durabeam flashlight on the side of the helmet (see pictures).

I'm trying to find a mount or something I could screw into the side of the helmet and then attach the flashlight to it, but I'm at a loss. Anyone have any ideas what would be a good way of going about this? Many thanks for any knowledge you can give me. :D

You might look to cell phone mounts for inspiration. For example I might make the "holster" with a big rectangle in the front for the lens and a smaller rectangle in the back for the battery back. Making this a snug fit. Attach with one screw going through one side of the holster (left side, right side, bottom side) and through the surface of the helmet. Having just one screw would allow the holster to pivot around that screw; up and down. or left and right depending upon placement, to direct the flashlight beam in that direction. The flashlight would slip in to the "front" of the holster with a friction fit or simple retention system so it would not fall out but would be easy to remove for handheld operation. The pivot would have a ratchet system to hold the beam direction unless purposefully changed. If you want to keep a "connection" even when hand held, get a belt clip badge holder which uses a pull-out cord. Attach one end to helmet/holster the other to light. Pull the cord out to move the light away, when you bring it back the cord automatically retracts like some dog leashes.

The pivot point could also be on an "arm" which juts out away from the helmet before attachment to the holster.

I'd use an adjustable cell phone holder with a ball joint, that'll give you all of the poseability without too much hassle for mounting. Toss on a couple of greebles, and maybe a spiral cable off the back.

Really looking forward to Arc Raiders too! As a suggestion, I put some lights on a helmet and went with rechargeable bike lights. I got two from Amazon for about $20 each that have mounts that swivel and can detach easily and you dont need AA's. I printed a shroud for them to make them look more the part. There are a lot of styles in a similar look unless you want the vintage look for Arc Raiders.. which might be the point. :)

Yeah I got the old Duracell Durabeam mini to go for a really vintage/retro look - but love what you're doing, too!

This thread had me go see what ARC Raiders was about. I did not dive too deep but one item caught my attention on a rainy afternoon. My terminology may not be correct but I did a quick model of what I am calling a Shoulder Comm from what seems to be a SFORZA Outfit. Here is an image and an STL, mainly for your criticism. I thought this group might have the best insight on my errors. It is about 130 mm x 70 mm x 30 mm. I estimated the size from the web straps which I assumed were 25 mm or 1"

Looks great! Might print this for my WIP suit as a cool greeblie. Have you used Fusion? If so, how do you find Design in comparison? Fusion is amazing but is counter-intuitive to my brain in every respect. Sorry for a tangent to the original post!

Thank you. I have "used" Fusion 360 but after years of practice with Design123 I find it easier and faster to do simple projects with it. Although I see the evolution of Fusion from 123 I also find it counter-intuitive. Because there are so many additional features (which I seldom try to use) maybe there are reasons for the differing approach but it is not something I quickly grasp. I do find it better for more organic objects, but I honestly do more "mechanical" projects.

Here is my take on the SFORZA helmet mounted camera. Again I welcome all comments and especially critiques on how to improve my interpretation.

The thread of my dreams— ARC Raiders, a bit of CAD, and problem solving. Really looking forward to your build, hope to be right alongside you.

Wouldn’t happen to know if anyone was able to rip any models, would you? I was too foolish to take screenshots when I had the chance on the beta.

I have just been using images I have found on-line. The objects I am working on are ones where I have found multiple images or views of the same object. I have also made a couple of "badges". Normally I would embroidery something like this but I am not sure that fits the "storyline" This appears on the right side of the chest on a vest. The emblem there is tilted 30 degrees. I have colored it brown on "dirty white". I am always looking for more images if anyone comes across some good ones.

Have been playing with Design 123 and it's good! It's kinda Tinkercad with beveling and taper options which is just what I wanted. I like your camera! Nice work. Attached a clean version of the badge if it helps you out.

Thank you for your files. I have made mine in Adobe Illustrator but I cannot seem to post images in that format. When I convert them to other formats I lose the vector images and end up with poor quality raster bitmaps. But here is a ,pdf of the patch which seems to be associated with Lance.

Great looking patches.

Came across this video covering all the beta character models. Short, clean, no commentary.

In playing with costume pieces, I've concluded the world of ARC is very cold, as doubled up quilted jackets get very hot, very fast
