How to cast silicone over polymer?

Ok, first & foremost, please forgive my ignorance. I am new to this end of modeling & sculpting.
It is my understanding that you can not make a silicone cast over a polymer clay (ie super sculpey) due to the sulphur or oil? If true, how are you casting a polymer model, baked or unbaked? Can it be painted over, or can it be cast if unbaked?

Thanks

Sulpher will inhibit the silicone cure. I checked the sculpey website, and it says that it is sulpher-free. That being said, I have molded sulpherous clay with silicone after sealing it with a couple of coats of crystal clear. Baked or unbaked shouldn't really matter, but personally, I would bake it, clean it with alcohol and still seal it with crystal clear. As for terminology, you sculpt a master, make a mold of it and make a casting in the mold.

These how to question and answer threads are so inspiriing. There are a millions projects I want to try - but casting. sculpting, producting is an ART - formed through dogged experience.

Some of the terminology escapes me.

Pictures are worth a thousand words - the in progress tutorials with pictures as the progress is made through step by step demonstrations are the best!!!

My suggestion is also scan through some You tube tutorials. I learned a lot through watching the casting process, then it is easier to talk shop with these guys on the forum. Some artists on the forum are willing to share their wealth of knowledge.

To those guys helping the enthusiastic , BUT inexperienced members, THANKS. !!!!! :love

I agree Gordon, this place and these projects are inspiring. I have been building robots and stumbled upon this site recently, and I am amazed at the talent level here. I do have a bit of artistic ability (at least I think) so I want to do some of these things myself.
I have watched many videos on casting, molding etc, but I still need to test some of these methods out in a hands on way.
