How do you make PVC look like copper pipes?

Hi all,

I need help "faux finishing" some PVC pipes and making them look like copper pipes...

Had anyone ever done this, or have any good ideas on how to?

Lightly sand the PVC

Spray with primer, probably a black automotive primer.

Paint with copper spray paint.

Dry brush with black paint.

Spray with a flat or matte clear paint.

If you need 'new' looking copper pipes, skip the black and spray a gloss clear over the copper paint.

House of Kolor makes a superb Kosmic Krome copper paint that's ready to spray out of the can. Not cheap though.
 
i've been really happy with just plain old rustoleum metallic copper. it has a great shine to it.

the copper tubes here are pvc painted with that:
