I'd be interested in seeing this too :) Also, if a run was to be made, I'd in for a copy.

The problem is the first Letter, it needs the correct font or kaligrpaphic skills to make that letter happen. The other font is the next problem, there are different fonts available, which comes very close. But in the hook note there are a lot of curves in the letters, so I think its a lot of work...

If anyone can get me a decent size screen cap or image I could give it a go. The first "D" is the only tough part.

A decent start, if someone can get me a couple of screen grabs that are a bit higher detail I'll see what I can throw together. I assume page size is something like A4?

Just found this thread - very interesting prop that I have not seen anyone do yet and it would make a perfect display piece in any collection!
    Count me in as interested....

I've got the written text done. Just working on the "D" at the start of the letter. Looks more like a wood block stamp than hand drawn so I'll have to replicate that. A few more days and this will likely be done. :)

Update is that it's been a very busy week for me... :( Hopefully soon. It'll only take me 30 mins to finish up, it's just a matter of getting the 30 mins! (kids are nothing but trouble! Lol...)

That would be an awesome prop to have! How cool would it be to display it on the door to your prop-room with a dagger in the door....!! :love

    Kindest Personal Regards...

This one's a freebie as I'm sure if I produced them some people would complain that the paper isn't torn to the perfect dimensions as seen in the film. :lol

I have a properly sized PDF for a letter size sheet if someone has an FTP I can post it to, otherwise here's a jpg of just the image and you can size it to whatever size paper you'd like.

As always, if I see this on ebay (from anyone else but me) I take it down pronto.

    Cheers!

    Looks pretty good.

Would someone want to take a crack at adjusting letter spacing and word sizes? Maybe do an overlay of the original to see exactly where the words are, how big they are, and the thickness of them.

This does look good, but I know so many people on here are sticklers for complete accuracy.

Awesome work Orange_Blend! I do agree with Moviefreak though, some tweaking is needed. I went ahead and tweaked the spacing. I hope you don't mind.

And here is an overlay comparison. Pretty spot on now!

AWESOME!! Yes, that was great work Orange_Blend... I meant no disrespect by critiquing it. I just knew that the sticklers out there would want it to be spot on.

Nice work in the adjustments CaptainEO!!

Actually the pic you used to overlay in your original post was another replica that wasn't even remotely accurate. I traced this from an adjusted screen grab as seen here:

The spacing really comes down to how you correct the perspective from the screen grab. For instance here's an overlay of my original:

Fits perfect. But if you adjust the perspective differently it'll look way off. Whatever floats your boat. :)

So what size of paper are we thinking is correct? It looks fairly large and thick, like canvas.

Actually, it looks like animal skin...the rough edges and the way it looks when the light shines through it hint at that. Could be a heavy linen rag though.

No offense taken. Just explaining why it looked so incredibly off in your overlay.

I'm with tk5378, looks like parchment to me.

Judging from the wide shots in the Phil Collins scene I'd say about 11x15. My original image is more than big enough to go that size and still look clear.

That would be awesome. IIRC there was a thread looking for that dagger a while back with no success...

    Hi,

    I think it's a simulation or a real Velin paper -> It's a skin of stillborn calf.
This type of parchments represent luxury and richness. We can write with great fineness because this parchment have a smooth surface without imperfections.

Why i think it's that? Because the Captain Hook lives in a luxury of the english aristocracy and this paper was use in England approx. in 18th century.

I think it's practically impossible to find this paper today or it's really expensive.

    Here a exemple :

Here a good view of the ransom Dagger :

I have a interview of Tony Swatton (who forged the Hook and the Dagger) who said there is a engraved note in the guard of the dagger.

Good Job ! How did you teinted the paper?

I found a better picture of the planet hollywood note.
It's certainly a prototype for the final note typographic researches or something like that.

i filled up my guest bath tub with 40 tea bags and let it soak over night. it turned it from bleach white to a light light brown, then i brushed it with a more concentrated tea and applied 10 coats of tea stamped... heres another picture, i made 4 copies, im not satisified with how it turned out so i only finished 1, i will remake them all from scratch in a few weeks for a more accurate version

I implied selling of any kind. :)
