Homebrew cold cast resin Sith Holocron

Hi RPF

there are some awesome Holocrons around bud I want to build my own one. I use a file from the net and make a cutting file for my cameo silhuette plotter.




I cut thick chrome foil from my local home depot store and stick it on a foam sheet.




Now ! making a mold and cast the tile with cold cast resin. I use brass powder




After casting I polish the tiles with steel wool ... nice effet




For the inner detail I print it on overhead foil ....works great



here we are !






Now I fix the tiles with sticky tape ... I also make a update for the details and colored the inner details with a Iphone app



then I glue acrylic sticks in the gaps and this hold the Holocron in place







... and done



for more effects I use a LED Base with changing lights

Great work! How did you make the lettering in the bottom? Was that carved in by hand?

No ! Also the cameo plotter make it for me. I just make a new master and mold. Now the lettering is much better.

That looks pretty good! Did you use a regular ink jet printer on the overhead sheet or something else?

here a smal update. Now I work with thicker golden foil and foam sheets. Much faster to build and looks great
