Limited Run Holocron/Kit

Forgive my ignorance, does the lighting kit work stand alone or will I need an arduino computer as well? Definitely interested in a kit plus electronics if it just needs assembly and paint though, thanks!

Board is stand-alone and pre-programmed. If you happen to have an Arduino (or anything else that will work as an ISP) you can re-program the board. Unfortunately adding programming-over-USB was a bit beyond me.

Thanks everyone for the patience. The "Stolen B" (the pictures above) is ready to go but I had a new idea about how to get a little closer to the look of the animated episode and I've been making a bunch of runs down to the shop cutting new parts to experiment with. Unfortunately this is the only picture of those experiments:

that looks good!!

What does the non complete kit look like?

EDIT: What I mean is, what is involved in putting the kit together, thanks!

The circuit board is already soldered up. The kit is a box-within-a-box-within-a-box construction of pre-cut acrylic pieces. They are either dovetail cut or engraved with alignment marks for ease in assembly (when the laser is having a good day, the pieces fit together tightly enough to hold by themselves without glue.) I'll be detailing all the steps in a proper pdf.

These are some (older) pics of the process:

i love it!

Designs for the alternate layers finally completed.

Ran off several sets of parts, assembled yet another prototype. Missing a few last tweaks and decent light for the last photographs before I open this up for orders.

u know this whole time i was hoping once the jedi holocron run is done he'd move onto a sith holocron like we see in rebels

i would love a set

Both look great! I love the internal circuit board on the first, and the sort of Doctor Who look of the second. Interested in kits of both. Looking around $90 shipped in the CONUS per kit with electronics? I'd be interested in a Sith holocron later after this run is over. This reminds me I need to get a good Hellraiser puzzle box too (thepuzzleboxmaker.com or is there someone here making good ones?)

Finally got the prototype "Stolen B" assembled. That's the "hypercube" design; basically a 2" holocron inside a 4" holocron. Getting pretty close to the look of the prop in the animated series.

Also assembled a test of the alternate diffusion and "circuit" layers. Repurposed an older "Temple" shell sample I had lying around, and borrowed a lighting module as I haven't gotten around to soldering up any more of the boards yet (which is why it looks a little crooked in the pic);

And of course I still have the "Sentinel" diffuse pattern (Jedi symbol in a ring of Galbasic), and the "Imperial Archives" design, plus am open to mix-and-match.

In other words...I'm opening for orders now. Will be able to ship the first ones within two weeks. Editing the first post now to reflect the current details and track names.

Awesome you are ready to take orders, put me down on the list, but I have looked over the 2 threads for the sample sections and are still a little unsure of the options, is it possible to get photos & description of all the options for the outer frames and the inner & outer layers.... thanks for all the time you have put into this run.

Can I be put down for a un assembled kit, and a electronic's kit for

"Stolen A" -- this uses the "Stolen" shell, "Counselor" diffusion, "Circuit 2," and a plain Diffusion Cube.

So when I'm done assembling it it looks like this

Put me down for a Stolen B Hypercube design kit and electronics kit as well, I think that's the one closest to the Rebels one! Let me know where to send payment, thanks!
