I really like that, cool.I made a replica viking key for a short subject film a few years ago.
Not sure if it was used.
That's really unusual and cool. Is this the real thing? How did that rope last that long? I get about 4 years from modern rope that protects my shed roof from force 9 gales! They knew what they were doing back in the day.I've had a push on this for while, but unfortunately so buried with work that I couldn't pursue on my own yet.
I would really like to make a replica of Tut's door seal, cast base with real cordage, clay stamping and iron where needed. Nothing huge, but plaqued and mounted nicely for a mantle or in the living room.

Yep, colorized. Here's the original. I like the idea of a 3d printed backer, iron for the bars that can be rusted up a bit, real rope, and a then stamp an air-dry clay with the cartouche just like the real one and let it harden up.That's really unusual and cool. Beautiful project, and I love the portability! Some interesting projects on this tread. I find it more challenging to replicate historic artifacts well, because you are trying to copy something in a way that looks like it was made with historic techniques, and then giving it "enough age" to make it look either old, or something that had a lifetime of use.
I once replicated an entire 16th century house, with modern techniques.

It 12 ft wide, 22 ft long and 16 ft tall. Oh, and it is portable. the whole thing unscrews and fits in a 24' cargo trailer
It was sealed underground far from air, moisture and bugs/rodents where other wooden pieces, and I believe seeds/grains were found too? That's really unusual and cool. Is this the real thing?
