Historical Artifact Replicas

I was wondering who here collects Historical Artifact Replicas (or even the real thing!).

There are many items I'd love to see made as replicas in the same way we create movie replicas.

Magonli's recent Spear of Destiny is a good example of what I'm talking about.

I'd love to have a copy of the Rosetta Stone done in fiber glass.

Also Perhaps some Space Race replicas- Sputnik Replica, a good Mercury Helmet, Apollo Thruster

Military items fall in this category, of which I have a few items. A few wwii and 50's era Flight helmets and a WWII m1 US Steel Helmet.

So many cool items from history...

There are highres picture on the web on the Rosetta stone.
This is a 1480 x 1852 size one

and i found this company that made some copys of the front
http://www.rosettastonereplicas.com/
Dont know if they sell them

Any pictures? :thumbsup
They are pretty rough, and were made to be part of a cobbled together Necronomicon that was pieced together by copying the originals as the Manuscript of Stephen Bates in The Lurker at the Threshold. I also took the liberty of substituting some of the mystery text for excerpts from the Necronomicon. Also a copy of the NSA report on the Voynich manuscript.

Eventually I would like to go back and make better copies.

Speaking of replicas of the Rosetta stone, here is a photo of me with a 1:1 replica in the British Museum library.

I sent a email to the company that are making them for museums. I am asking if they are willing to sell front plates of the rosetta stone. I think the 1:1 stone would be a little too big to have on the wall.

Could the Rosetta Stone be done in a similar way to the recent run of Indy Tablets? I think you laser cut the symbols into plexi and then sculpt the edges?

I certainly can't do it, but SOMEONE can! ;)

In the works! I've got half a tablet sitting in my shop.

Someone here once offered copies of the big foot foot print cast done waaaaaay back in the 50's. Don't know if that counts, and I'd love to have one.

I once found an old piece of drift wood when I was exploring a local river, I had planned on adding an old rusty nail and call it a replica of part of the original crucifix...but I wasn't sure if that was appropriate or not.

You got the Rosetta stone or the Indy tablet?
If its the rosetta stone are you willing to sell some?

You could make a copy of the nail that sits inside the spear of destiny.

There was a documentary on the discovery channel about William Wallace, and there they showed the Original sword... Looks fantastic to me.

Got a answer:

Hello Conny

At this point we are fabricating only the full-size, 3-D model. We are
discussing something like what you are saying, but that will not be
available until sometime next Spring. Feel free to contact me if you need
more clarification.

As you can imagine, we have put a lot of time, energy and money into the
development of these replicas. And each one has to be hand crafted. This is
not a cheap "Made-in-China" assembly-line project. The cost may be
prohibitive. Based upon current investment, the cost for the 3-D model will
be somewhere between $5000 and $7500 (plus shipping).

I am not sure yet how much the other model will be. I am not mentioning yet
what it will be specifically, but you will be pleasantly surprised.

Thank you for allowing me to parachute into your day...

Only pic I have found of the Yeti hand, but damn I wanna make one now :lol

Hell, the story even involves Jimmy Stewart!

There are a ton of historical artifacts I would love to have replicated, but most of the ones I like are just either horribly complex or something that I would have spend 2 hours explaining to someone :(

Although the astronaut footprint in the desert would be pretty cool to have...
