Hi from Weta

Arrgh! Crisis!

My Arc Gun is due to be charged on Monday, and I went and lost my wallet today, and have had to cancel my card :angry

Tim, can you or anyone else out there let me know the earliest time I can call customer service at Weta to provide a new card to charge, we don't want to send the details by unsecured email.

Thanks in advance!

Simon

Welcome Tim :) I'm a Tim too. With our powers combined... I will probably be spending a lot of money someday! ;)

I'm sorry to hear there is no license available for Halo pieces. Perhaps it is Microsoft holding it up. I have been a Halo fan since the original 1999 reveal at Macworld... long before MS and the XBox. The game definitely went through a few changes since then, but the Assault Rifle has always been a pretty iconic item there in the series. Would love a replica of it sometime.

Sadly I missed out on the District 9 Arc Generator. VERY cool prop!

Thanks tubachris

We'd love to, but there is no license available for Halo weapons (we have asked)

Sorry

Tim

that's really strange, considering there are official 'toys' that you can buy for the plasma pistol and rifle :/
well i for one hope you get it some time,
i'm surprised that you guys just calling Bungie saying "hey! you know that cool movie? yeah, which movie? oh i don't know, district 9, the halo short, the lord of the rings ones? yeah, we made those, and we want to make your guns" wouldn't have them screaming "YESYESYES"

Thanks Kommissar

We did just that !

I think they allowed the plasma pistol and rifle because they are alien weapons and do not look like a real life human weapon. However they prefer not to be merchandising weapons that may be mistaken as real guns.

Sorry !

Tim

Hi Everyone,

It's been a crazy month !

Comic Con was a blast, we enjoyed meeting many of you at the Weta booth. We were thrilled to finally unveil our new District 9, Dr Grordbort's and LOTR ranges.

We then came straight back to NZ for a TV shoot for a US show which will screen in November. And followed that up with a trip to China for a week, where we set up a large Weta Exhibition in Shanghai.

Things are just starting to settle down a bit now. So here's an update on our latest merchandise news :

District 9

We are very pleased with all the customer feedback on the Arc Generator, which has now shipped out of our US and NZ warehouses. We are starting to ship out of our UK warehouse this week, WOOHOO ! Once the UK pre-orders are shipped, we will then start to sort through the long waiting list in the first half of Sept.

The Gas Projector will be shipping at the end of Sept. The first production run has sold out.

We launched the Exosuit at Comic Con, the single most complex model we have ever released. The original prototype took 3 months for our Senior Model Maker (Dave Tremont) to build. It includes over 50 individually molded parts. You can see some of the WIP pics here

The miniature D9 guns are now up for pre-order. These are cast in metal and have some real weight to them

The large scale Assault Rifle is selling quickly. Don't miss out on this one !

We are really excited to be launching "The Art of District 9 - Weta Workshop" book shortly. Some of you may have seen the preview copy at Comic Con. We'll be opening this up for pre-orders on the website very soon

The Lord of the Rings

The Prancing Pony will sell out in the next day or so. Last chance is now !

We have just started shipping Bag End from our NZ warehouse, and will shortly start shipping from our US warehouse.

We are beginning work on a Rivendell environment as we speak.

The third sword in the LOTR Master Swordsmith's Collection will be launched very soon

And of course there is a whole bunch of other items, made by the original artists, on the website.

On the movie front, the Weta team continue to work on various projects; TinTin, The Planet of the Apes, The Wind in the Willows and Mad Max : Fury Road.

If you'd like to keep up to date with our latest news on our movies, TV shows, prop replicas and collectibles, you can sign up for our newsletter here Inside Weta and you can see our backlog of newsletters here Read Weta's Newsletters here

Kind regards

Tim

Hi Tim,

I'll ask here seen as how you are very good at giving us some really fast responses.

I ordered the Arc generator, without having an account with yourselves. Then in my madness created an account and pre-ordered more items.
Is it possible to tie my arc generator gun into my new account, so i may take advantage of the Weta Dollars??
Or do i chalk this one up to complete stupidity!!!

Oh and can i have a job, i am so bored with mine!!!!!!

Hi G17RDY

We only offer Weta Dollars for items ordered on the Weta website. Is that where you ordered it ? If so, send me a personal message with your order number, and we'll see what we can do for you

Can't promise you a job ! But feel free to send a portfolio into the Workshop

Kind regards

Tim

But feel free to send a portfolio into the Workshop

This is a hail Mary of a longshot, but is there actually an email address where we could send a portfolio of our work if we were so inclined?

Also, I hate to send unsolicited resumes that would clog someone's inbox, so if that was a joke above, I totally understand!

Hi Volpin

It was no joke. Yes, it is a long shot, but everyone who works here started out from the same place as you guys. We are all just kids who haven't grown up yet (and don't intend to !). Here is all the info on our recruitment process Contact Us

cheers

Tim,

For the lucky few of us that have ordered both the Arc generator and the Assault rifle, is there any chance of getting the same edition number for both??

Or is that a logistical nightmare???

Tim...quick question. Did you guys make any of the props for the movie outlander...specifically the tracking beacon that opened up at the beginning of the movie?

mithril shirt all the way, though a full set of king rings would be good mounted on a board so you can choose which to put on a knecklace, and a suitable knecklace made in silver to look like elf rope:)

Hi Tim,
Welcome! You don't know me directly but we worked together on Rise of the Planet of the Apes. I made all the serum canisters and sone of the lab equipment... like the animatronic chambers for the canisters. I also worked with your digital department by providing my CADs on my canisters for you guys to work with. I must say... I truly had a great time on the show and working with WETA digital was fun. I look forward to working with you guys again.
