Hi from Weta

Welcome!

Hey are you guys still working on the Dam-busters film? Any news on it? Love to see pictures of the Lancaster you built for it.

Thanks,

Jamie

YES, by all means, there is next to nothing anywhere online about them but I know that at least one has been assembled already.

I have a question, what ever happens to all the props and armor from Lord of the Rings? I know alot of us would love to get our hands on some of that stuff, even the stunt and backround armor.

What a coincidence, I'm planning a trip to NZ this summer! Didn't know there was such a thing as The Weta Cave, but I believe I will have to visit. Thanks for the info Tim!

:D

Hi Tim,
Welcome!
Will look forward to your posts on here.
I was the first to join the Weta Facebook group, apparently!!

All the best,
D

Also a welcome!

Great to see more companies joining up. Already have the aul Arc gun ordered...so if theres a prawn hand down the line I wouldnt mind :p

Hey Tim,

Welcome to the board.

Question. Is it your company that made the Alien for the Skyrunners movie?

If so, very nice job. Those things looked awesome on screen. I had
looked it up after it aired and was pretty sure it was Weta that did the effects for the film.

Correct me if I am wrong though.

:thumbsup Awesome stuff.

Hi again Tim, I would love to collect all the D9 weapons seen in this rack, and because of their size it's also how I would like to display them. So is there any chance you will be doing a replica of the longer weapon in the centre of the pic? and is there any thought of offering a payment schedule similar to ones offered at other prop companies?

I would have definitely grabbed both the D9 replica weapons you are currently offering if a payment plan was an option. I would love both, but as they are going to be released at the same time I could not swing the money for both. I am pretty sure a lot more people would jump on board if you had a payment plan option.

Hi Garthok

Yeah, the Assault Rifle is a very cool piece. One of my favourites. It's a possibility

We will certainly be launching more District 9 replicas, and are very keen to see the results of the poll being organised on this site.

In terms of payment plans, we are not currently set up for this. They require lots of time and resource to administer, and we are only a small collectibles company. Maybe in the future.

Kind regards

Tim

Yes, correct. Thank you.

The Weta team did a brilliant job on that and Shane Rangi was awesome as the costume actor (as always). It took a huge amount of skill and dexterity for him to achieve what he did in that costume.

Cool, thank you. The Facebook list keeps growing. I still haven't even got on to Facebook yet !

Hi Darth Larch

Yes, please come and visit us. We have a shop, mini theater with a 20 min behind the scenes video, and a mini museum. And it's free entry. Here's the link to the Weta Cave page on our site http://www.wetanz.com/cave

There is a 30 sec video halfway down the page.

And the District 9 guns are now on display !

Cheers

Tim

Hi CMANavy

THe LOTR props, weapons, costumes, miniatures, etc are all currently in storage (we have a lot of storage !)

Cheers

Yes, the team had a lot of fun building the Lancaster Bombers. But I can't tell you anymore than that right now. Sorry !

Hi Jamie

Yes, but we can not release any images yet. Sorry about that ! We need to wait until the movie is released

Kind regards

Welcome to District RPF! Kindly leave all your Prawn weapons at the entrance... :D

That's a real shame... Any chance you can get clearance from the Powers that Be to provide photos and answer questions about the design & construction of the WASP revolver used by Col. Miles Quaritch in Avatar? I started a lively discussion on this thread http://www.therpf.com/showthread.php?t=76202 that's become a heated debate over the base gun used, dials, and other elements of this iconic prop.

Thanks!

RR

P.S. I also pre-ordered the Arc Generator! :)

Thanks for your order RR !

Hmmmm... let me check

Tim

Welcome aboard Tim , great to see you guys here ,personally impressed that you are coming here to ask our opinions on what we would like to see made :thumbsup

One thing i would like to ask ,what are your views on guys here making their own replicas of props used in weta movies or any others ? Just always wondered what the companys really think .

Hi Tango'd fett

Thanks for the welcome. We think it's very important to hear your opinions on what you would like to see made. Afterall, we want our replicas to be popular and we want people to love and appreciate them. The staff in the Workshop get a real buzz when people compliment their work.

Personally, I think it's terrific that you all make your own prop replicas (you just can't sell them without a licnse from the brand owner). That's passion, and we love passion ! Most of the Workshop staff did the same thing before they joined us and started making originals. And some of them go home and still make replicas from movies we have not worked on.

cheers

Tim

Thanks, Tim. Silly question but I wonder if the Weta here on the Weta Digital homepage is CGI?

http://www.wetafx.co.nz/

Or a scan of a real insect? Better yet if it appeared in any films Weta worked on? King Kong? If so that would make it a film prop and it would look cool on my desk...and people wouldn't interrupt me so often when I'm working. :)

Amazing shrine, there, Griefboy....

BTW, if someone has pre-ordered the arc, and needs some genetic therapy so they can fire it, give me a shout! :)

Hi SithLord

I think that is a CGI Weta

Here is a real one http://www.wetanz.com/what-is-a-weta

Yes, there were some Giant Weta's slipped into the Kong movie in the scene at the bottom of the ravine, when they got attacked by all the bugs. That was kind of a private joke that all New Zealanders understood !

If you need something for your desk, you could always try a Weta mug ! http://www.wetanz.com/bug-mug

Thanks

Tim
