Just saw this thread and after seeing the pictures on this page, I went back and savored all 13 to date. Great work on this, it's really coming out beautifully! Always nice seeing more projects in Virginia being done.

That is the way the originals on the show were built and I believe he is trying to make this look and work as closely to that as possible.

I can't wait for the kits and hope even more that full builds will be available too.

Right, the original hero props had an off center seem.

The working parts were attached to the left half, so it was made deeper than the right. This also helped to hide the seem.

On Greg's hero the seem is angled slightly, becoming almost centered at the rear. It's not known if any of the others had this trait, so I made mine straight.

Sorry for the lack of updates. I had to spend some time getting power in my shop, so I can run a heater. My shop is an add-on room built alongside the house, and the only power outlet is what used to be the patio outlet. It's on the same circuit as most of the downstairs and there's not much juice available, so no heat, compressor or shop vac. I got a heavy duty extension cord and ran it from the laundry room out to the shop. Now I have electric heat, a nice comfy 70 degrees, and I can run my compressor without dragging it into the house.

I masked the p2 master so I could prime the exposed wood without getting it on the plastic details. This left a ridge along the edges that I sanded smooth.

I then added a sheet styrene backer, to make a step so I can mold a clean edge.

First coat of Tamiya primer revealed a few rough spots. I filled them in and will sand and re-prime.

Robn1 build up 3 JLongs for me and chronicled it on a thread. His work reflects an incredible attention to detail and accuracy. This phaser build is awesome too!

First P1 is done! I did it as the red jeweled Nona, just to give it some color. I made up numbers for the power meter. The thumb wheel and crispy is from Sporak, side rails from Trekme, thanks guys!

Wow! I think you have the black border around the power meter numbers perfect under that acrylic.
