Anyone know where i can get a buckle similar to the jedi belt buckles? im not looking for something exact, but at least similar. What did you jedi costume makers use? and Lastly, where do i find those metal studs that are used to keep the smaller belt with the buckle in line?

IIRC, the studs are called "Chicago Screws"'

As for buckles... occasionally they crop up for sale here, and on various other forums. As to what you can get right now, I would check out fabric or leather stores (tandy, again) because sometimes they have buckles and stuff for purses that could work. The link posted above also has lots of stuff (including d-rings and clips if you wanted that on there)

If you find the shape you want in a plastic buckle, you can always paint it.

What buckle are you looking for? I have some Anakin buckles and the correct studs I can part with. Send me a PM if you are interested.

Chicago screws are totally different. Those are basically, and even nicknamed, "screw rivets." The studs are similar to the Sam Brown studs that tandy has offered for years. They now offer the studs as well. If you go through Ohiotravelbag, you have a $50 or $75 minimum order to fill. Of course, on the other hand, you might find your buckles, and its really easy to blow $50.00 at OTB.

Well they must have lowered it then. I haven't ordered from them in several years, but I know it was at least $50.00 minimum then. That's great news.

thats what i read elsewhere, and what i used on my belts i made myself for me and the wifes jedi costumes.

i read that in several forum places i run across, that they were sam browne studs. if thyre not i dont care, cuz i think they turned out nice, and look very similar to the movie styled belts. of course i used a strapworks brassplated side release buckle for my belt, and hers just has a celtic knot conch for the front buckle. mine have both a adjustable connection in back off the middle strap with a plastic side release buckle and a slip cover of leather to slide over to hide it. again, very similar to the movie style.

i did see the posts were straight shafted, and mine are tapered, but the same height, Tandy leather also had staright shafted sam browne studs, i chose to use the tapered ones.

This fan site offers advice on duplicating and/or creating original Star Wars costumes:

http://www.padawansguide.com/belt.shtml

Though they focus more on female characters, you might find some useful information there. There's also The Jedi Assembly forum for Star Wars fans interested in duplicating costumes and props from the films:

http://apfoister.proboards9.com/index.cgi

Again, these are both fan sites, so the information they provide may or may not be 100% accurate. But you might be able to get enough information to suit your needs.
