Help with Green Lantern Power battery

Hey all I've lurked around here and finally decided to try to make a Green Lantern power battery. Well I got all my parts. Various plumbing bits the right bowls and an 8" acrylic globe from Home Depot. And when I went to drill the holes in the side of th globe for the handle. I shattered the globe. Any tips? I know a lot of you have built GL batteries.
Thanks

When I made mine, I used a dremmel. It was a lot less force and speed than a drill. But you might want o look into polycarbonate globes. They're a lot tougher.

Thanks I may try that. I'm also considering just cutting down the PVC end caps and gluing them to the sides and use the tiny cavity left inside them.

Anyone have any tips on compactly lighting a ring. I got this one from an action figure and dremeled it out to fit my finger. I can get a light in there but finding a small compact 3 volt battery is the problem.

Honestly, it's far better and much less work to just BUY a light-up ring. Besides the light-up version of that children's ring which Mattel made, the Noble Collection made one sized to fit most adults. They can be found pretty easily on eBay. Sometimes you can buy the ring by itself, sometimes you might have to buy the Wal*Mart Exclusive DVD pack that included the movie DVD and the Noble Collection light-up ring together. But that's what I'd recommend. The ring's even designed for easy replacement of the battery when it's spent. (y)cool
