Help me Fix My Rebel Blaster So it Will SELL

Boba Debt

I recently posted an Rebel Blaster for sale in the junk yard and the thread has received a ton of hits but no one seems interested in buying it.

The blaster is a converted REAL Sterling and it is based on the picture of Lando on page 22 of the Star Wars Visual Dictionary.

I built this along time ago and at the time we discussed it in depth on this forum and I built it according to that discussion.

Recently, Lone Pigeon PMed me and explained that it might not be selling because I removed the Magazine Well, which was done based on the discussion we had at that time.

I have a few ideas about ways to make this more sellable but I don't know which direction to go.

The most obvious way is to decrease the price, but I have over $1000 invested in this so that would be my last resort

I have considered re-building it into an ANH Version but that would require buying the parts to do it and I would need to re-discuss the details.

So what should I do?

Any help would be appreciated.

First sounds like it is totaly dead on accurate, so I would not change.

Second you trying to sell in the summer, a hard time to sell anything...that maybe all that is wrong.

Third have you tried Ebay?

I think any rebel blaster will be a tough sale right now since e-bay is flooded with MR blasters at around $160.00.

When a buyer has a choice between a $160.00 MR piece and a $1000.00 fan made piece, it is hard to justify the expence.

Neverhteless, It's still a nice piece and I wish you the best of luck with the sale.

It looks most like a ROTJ version considering the exposed vent holes, proportions of the muzzle, and design of the scope rail. Except the ROTJ version was built from a MGC Sterling and still had the mag well attached.
So if you put the mag well on it could be some sort of ROTJ/real Sterling hybrid.

You can look at an MR version to see what an ANH should look like. It has no mag well, but there are many other differences. I think it'd be too much work to try and make it ANH though. Also as has been said you can get the MR ANH cheap these days. I've seen it for $175 shipped.

ESB would be a difficult change as well. Again you'd need the mag well on it. Your grip assembly is over an inch too far forward (see the Lando pic how the front of the assembly lines up to about the half way mark on the ejection port). The gun is around an inch too long overall as well.
I'm sure Markus has pics handy of his finished ESB DH-17.

To me your best bet is a fan interpretation of an ROTJ/Sterling hybrid.

LP as he said in his original post, its a replica of the blaster lando is holding in the visual dictionary, its a wierd varient on purpose.

man, have you tried putting a pic of the blaster in question next to it?

no proof like visual proof, i kinda remember the pic/blaster, but i know personally that a picture that looked exactly like it would spark my interest if i had the cash to spend or i was looking for a wierd varient blaster...

just a thought.

i think its an awesome piece.

good luck bro. :D

Man, what's with the attitude Ken?
Fact is it doesn't match the photo at all.

Lando is holding a very standard ESB DH-17 in that pic.

I hope Markus doesn't mind, but here's a couple pics of his VERY accurate ESB DH-17:

Note that the Sterling itself is cut off before the vent holes and that the trigger group is relocated much further back and that it still has the mag well attached.
I know these blasters very well. I've been gathering parts for my ESB DH-17 for about a year and have maybe 30-40 pics of real props for reference.
I guess I'll post a couple later. I didn't realize that so many people didn't know what this blaster should look like. It's been on public display several times includin SWC3 and Planet Hollywood.

I don't doubt that the blaster Markus has is accurate but what information is it based on?

What photographic proof supports this design?

OK, here's an assortment of pics from different sources.

First, another Lando publicity still (same prop as in the Visual Dictionary pic):

Here are a couple from Planet Hollywood:

Wow, that's a good start.

If anyone else has pictures please post them

I am getting more and more interested in fixing this blaster.

Hah, I had never noticed before that they gone and stuck a Sparrow/Sidewinder missle on the side of the gun.

I've never studied this pic closely before. What's with the thick trigger guard? I'm not a blaster expert, but that looks quite unusual to me.

lonepigeon, is this the same prop as in the other shots in Post #08?

it's a 1/32 Sidewinder, Sparrows look a lot different.

The thick trigger guard is because its a resin casting and a proper sized TG would be too fragile/tricky to cast.
