Okay here's the background. The guy I bought this helmet from claimed the following:
The LEDs start up blinking the same then start to alternate (one is slower). The scratches and cuts are into the helmet (and do seem to match my previous ones). The ears are metal as is the range finder except the scope piece. The interior is a very soft black cloth covering a thin layer of foam. The lens is cut similar to the DP DLX I've had, very thick piece, very tightly installed. The helmet itself seems to be of a solid white fiberglass. There are two screws holding on the left ear about 4" apart, and four screws holding on the range finder ear with three about an inch apart and the fourth about 2" away from the others. The screws are very tight with small nuts on them. I can't tell as they are under the foam but they appear to either have the heads cut off or they are reversed, coming in from the outside, and have been cut down before the foam liner was glued in.
Now I've owed a couple DP DLX Fett helmets and this is different in many ways and yet *very* much the same. I'm stumped on this one. I have heard, but never seen, LED DLX models were made but were very rare and very custom. Just trying to see what the opinions are out there.
The helmet is all original from Don Post Studios. I bought the helmet directly from Don Post's son. The LEDs in the range finder are factory built, but he said this was limited, not all of them had this feature. No paperwork (never had any), but the original shipping box is included.
