Anyone know what this pitcher is?

I'd also be interested in knowing the origin of any of the other items in the Skywalker kitchen (ANH or AOTC).

Thanks!

Hi, I saw this and thought I would help put you out of your misery... I know how I hate it when I am trying to find something prop related and cannot find the answer.

Beru's water jug from the recent prequel films is none other than a water jug....:love

Ok, that's a bad joke (It's 5 am in the morning here and my pain meds have made me loopy... so anyway excuse my poor humour). Ahem, the water jug is from Australia, oh say circa 1989 to around 1992.

It was a water purifier jug produced by Kambrook Australia, and was a very good purifier I might add, up until the German made Britta surpassed the Kambrook filter technology and subsequently overtook it as the leading water filter brand in Australia. Until then the jug was a almost common fixture in Australian kitchens for those wanting filtered water.

I had one of those Kambrook jugs somewhere lying around. Hopefully my mother didn't turf it behind my back (I remember telling her at the time she was contemplating throwing it out that it appeared in a Star War's film... so by now it is probably landfill somewhere, sigh...)

One side note, I don't recall ever seeing one with a transparent lid. They always had a turquoise colour here so it's more than likely the prop department moulded a duplicate lid in some sort of clear resin to make the prop look more futuristic (the turquoise lid immediately says 'Tupperware' to me for some reason, but I digress)

I don't know how successful it will be to find one. Even though Kambrook still makes the filters for the jugs (they are still compatible with their current filter line) the Star Wars variant were removed from sale and I say most were off the shelves of even discount/clearance stores by 1995. In case you are curious, nowadays the jug looks like the following pic from Kambrook's catalogue:

I guess you could be a new model bottle and say you bought the upgrade... somehow though if you're like me then it probably won't just feel right :confused

Personally I loved the old bottle. Far superior to the new one. With the old one having a screw-tight lid and shatter resistant plastic it's a pity that they don't make them like they used to. I'd drop the bottle every now and then and it never once sprung a leak or stopped working.

Now, like so many things out there these days, it's rare for a company to truly innovate and create something new, when most company's find it easier to just go with the flow and copy the competitors. The joys of modern consumerism. Ironic really when Kambrook were the ones to introduce and popularise filtered water in Australia.

Anyway, I hope any of this info helps.

Cheers,

The Oracle
