I was just wondering what type of product you guys use to fill in the holes that appear in resin kits. This is my first time building up a resin kit that requires filling so any help is appreciated.

I'm heading to Michaels tonight so if it's available there let me know!

Thanks!!

Two simple products will work best;

1) Bondo glazing putty - available at any autoparts store, fairly cheap and minimal, if any, shrinkage.

2) a combination of crazy glue and talcum powder (for smaller holes) - mix into a paste and fill the hole. No shrinkage and sands smooth. Just be sure to sand within the first hour, otherwise the stuff turns to diamond and you'll never be able to sand it.

for small stuff i often use wood filler, since it dries really fast and i always have some.

i've been meaning to get some miliput to try out, but i still haven't

I've always used wood filler as well. Dries fast, sandable, washes with water, no smell and very friendly to use (if that makes sense).

For tiny pin holes, regular Elmers white glue works great and cleans up easily.

For larger holes, I just started using a putty similar to Milliput called "APOXIE Sculpt". It's more refined, smooths out much better than its competitor and is the same price. :thumbsup Your local hobby shop may carry it.

The Bondo Glazing Putty works well, but you have to glob it on and sand down for proper coverage, otherwise it requires two or more applications to achieve a complete fill. Also, I wouldn't recommend using it in really tight areas, either.
