HEADS UP Samaritan Hellboy leather holster NOW SHIPPING!

Here's some quick and dirty pics. I only got this thing about an hour ago. No room for prop displays in my ****ty little apartment... save for my proton pack which sits in the middle of my bedroom floor because it has no place else to go :lol

The leather and stitching all seems of good quality. The fasteners and hardware are all quite nice.

I was more impressed with the horseshoe in person than from the pics. It is quite solid with good weight and nice texture. Though it would really shine with a more realistic paint job. As it ships it is kind of flat and bland. I'll either repaint/weather mine or use a real old iron horseshoe.

The buckle is very nice, but the paint on it could have been done a little neater. Your mileage may vary.

The limited number only appears on the box as far as I saw. My box got wanged on one side thanks to UPS, but I don't really care about the box.

Minor gripe aside I am super pleased with my purchase.

The buckle needs some major weathering. And yeah, that horseshoe is just :sick

Received mine today as well. Nice item!

My box was absolutely battered! Good thing this was a "soft" item, otherwise I'm sure it would have arrived damaged.

I hope they consider either switching shippers or package stuff a little better in the future.

It makes me worry about ordering more expensive stuff from them in the future...

Nice lookin' belt - is it sized for HellBoy or some scrawny mortals :cool:lol.

The horseshoe is a very easy fix. All it needs is a few drybrushes of lighter shades of browns and a wash of black and you're set.

Yup. Already repainted the horseshoe and weathered the buckle. Anyone have ideas on making the rosary for the belt?

I have an 'accurate' red locator unit replica... has anybody managed to put one on the belt yet?

I'd love to know whether it's possible/whether it fits!

I think it would be easier to buy a rosary than to make one. There are thousands of styles to choose from, finding one shouldn't be too tough.

Began a little weathering and some leather care. Here's some pics of the repainted and weathered buckle:

taking a decent pic is kind of tricky with the nickel plating, but I took a few in different light to try and illustrate it.

I did give the belt, holster, and all the accessories a wash with saddle soap to help soften them up some and to darken the leather. The really only fairly stiff piece is the holster itself. After the saddle soap I applied some oil to everything to protect and soften, and again to also help darken the leather. I applied it a little more heavily to the cut edges so they darkened up. I also applied it more heavily to areas where fingers would be touching clasps/flaps and whatnot.

The holster was really thirsty and drank the oil in pretty quickly. So I hit it with a few times. It is now nice and flexible. It also can be slid on and off the belt easier since it softended up.

The belt out of the box kind of had a smell like carnuba wax or something to me. So I would highly recommend that anyone wishing to stain or dye it further first give it a few washes with saddle soap to help remove any waxes that might have been factory applied.
