HCG ALIENS HERO M41A PULSE RIFLE - Modification Thread

I know about 6 people have already said it, but Noble's are hard to beat and adding his sling was the first thing I did when my HCG came in.

I´m not really into Aliens stuff but that looks truely nice, Art!
You know i love your attention to details and this definatly shows it!
I prefer the used look over the out-of-factory look, so go ahead! :)

The M41A is still one of the best looking Sci-Fi weapons ever!
(note to myself: stay away from Aliens stuff, stay away from Aliens stuff...)

Likewise. I have two Noble slings. One for my PR and one for my Motion Tracker once I get around to putting my box of drill and camera parts together.

I already have to make a repair mod to my PR. As I feared, the hinged load door for the grenades broke. A friend pumped the PR before I had time to warn him about the low hanging door and it snapped off like a dry twig. :angry

Normally it'd be no big deal to just glue it right back on, but it's in a very hard to reach place that my big fingers might not be able to get into to hold the piece as the glue sets. Grrr.

Well...I will say this.....the double layering of paint does at some realism to the over all weathering look. It looks like a hero weapon that has been repainted a few times. Nice effect. The chips and nicks are good too....some a little over done, but in the end, it can all be looked at as real world wear and tear, which is exactly what Cameron wanted when they were created for the movie. The hammering is pretty cool, and nice to be finally weather the gun this way.

(My first post yay!) TridCloudWalker I feel your pain, my Brother Snapped the Thompson cocking handle off by pulling back too far (one hell of a strong spring), i've tried gluing it but it keeps snapping after a minor pull (i really want it to still be useable). Can anyone sugest a great type of glue for this?
Thanks in advance.

Yeah Matts right ,you will have to drill straight down thru it ,and then use a retap kit ,to re-thread it slowly ,and then you should simply be able to run you a little bolt ,or screw , ( your preference of course ), thru the charging handle into the receiver BOLT ,and it should hold ,but you have to be very careful with resin type material at all costs.......Matt knows everything about it ,that is why they refer him as the resin prop maker.......

Thanks for the advice Guys, The only problem with drilling is that there is a metal peg running through the charging handle (guess to give it some strength), so that'll be a tough job. One thing i noticed is that the handle is glued into the cocking mechanism so with some care it could be removed and perhaps have a replacement inserted.

Well ,Im not by no means telling you to do this process if your not comfortable doing it,however if , it were me ,( I would get me titanium drill bits and drill all the way thru the metal slowly ,with a small bit first ,then take it up a notch and get a little bit bigger of a titanium bit drill again ,and again until it was fit to size a real charging handle that can be ordered from a few companies here in the US and epoxy the real handle into it ,because I would use the real part to make it sturdy without complications ,but thats just me ).............just a suggestion thats all.

Speaking of drilling and screwing; you might want to study the following image; it renders a few details that may have been missed:

Compare the allen set screws with what you have. Also, please take note (possibly redline) any apparent barrel curvature or droopage.

Nono. My bad. My posting was more generalized for the purpose of this being a modification thread rather than for a repair. For me, at least, this would be a relatively quick and simple upgrade. Care and caution is always advised, though.

Tom, I am replacing my entire grenade launcher. I have one of the machined front ends (maybe that came from you) but it has no screws with it. I know what goes in the sides, but there is also a hole in the front, below the barrel. What kind of screw goes in there?
