Has anyone ever made resin copy of the Highlander sword?

whoops, i missed this completly...
here are a few of what i offer...the last one is not the original H2, its a cleaner version of the kyle katana i made, the H2's have fallen under the provision of the lawyer hit list (davis-panzer watch list)... the differance between my remake is that its a thicker handle with the same head built up...

i sell each of these with practical katana cutting blades...
:eek

So... beautiful... DO WANT!!! :love

Umm... I mean... must not buy sword, girlfriend will kill me. Must not buy sword, girlfriend will kill me. Must not buy sword, girlfriend will kill me. :unsure

You guys might laugh, but she's Cuban, so, yeah, I do NOT want to piss her off... 'cuz she definitely has the infamous Cuban temper.

the basic sword is 500 each... not a long shot!
In the last few months, I've already spent over $500 on props... probably closer to $550, to acquire 2 pieces that were at the top of my "Must Own Some Day" List... the Sonic Screwdriver used by Tom Baker when he played the 4th Doctor, and the current Sonic Screwdriver used by David Tennant as the 10th Doctor. If I spend any more than that on props any time soon, I'm liable to experience the SO's Cuban temper first-hand. And no matter how gorgeous it is, no Highlander sword is worth THAT! :unsure

Besides, I've gone roughly 20 years without one... that's more or less how long I've been a Highlander fan. So, I reckon I can wait a little while longer to add one to my collection. But when the time is right and I know I can get away with buying it, I'll be contacting you, so you better keep making them! ;)

Hi All

Sorry I'm late to the party here. I am part of Zeist Armories and we have Jose's permission to recreate his work including the H3 Connor version and the Dark Magic katana used by Mario Van Peebles as the character Kane. The Dark Magic katana was actually put out through Art Gladius not Marto in the early days and has been discontinued for quite sometime. We used a Dark Magic hilt as our base but changed the tsuba to a more screen accurate one that he designed. Its on our site as the Nakano tsuba. I have not heard of anyone else offering a Dark Magic and they are as rare as the come. Most over the years have broken either in the guard or hilt. The swords were timebombs waiting to break. Ours have been redesigned and are made of stronger materials from the blade straight to the hilt.

All of our swords come with a T10 steel blade that is a real cutting machine. We have done extensive test cutting and destructive testing to make sure the blades stand up. It was a fun day at the shop for sure lol! We use a core design similar to the one used on the pointgallery swords made by Sal. The guards on the Dark Magic are actually blackened brass with the edges shiny showing off the brass. This was a little known thing that Jose did with the screen accurate ones.

If you have anymore questions feel free to ask.

Hi All

Better late than never! ;)

Yes Marto never did the Kane Katana it was Art gladius.

Man when those Kats first came in to the store I opened one up and my jaw hit the floor.

It was a horribly made piece of junk.

Had a lot of customers wanting one but when they held it walked away from it.

I would be surprised if any are out there by now.

As I have said earlier in this thread I already own a few Practical katana blades along with various fittings. What I require is the accurate tsuka and tsuba to mount the blade on. As buying the completed sword would just be purchasing more than I need.

But for a Highlander 1 mentor to be perfectly accurate it would need to be on an aluminum blade with a steel tsuba painted gold.

Looks like you are out of luck as nobody offers just tsukas

So, apparently there's now yet ANOTHER officially licensed replica, this time from United Cutlery. Entertainment Earth just got them in this week:

I'm sure it's very inaccurate when compared to the ones made by irishamericanlad. It's $300, so I'd rather spend a couple hundred more and get one from our fellow RPFer, knowing that I'll be much happier with his work! :):thumbsup

But just wanted to make sure you guys had a chance to see it. Click the link above to read more about it. Thoughts? Comments? Insults? :lol

msrp 300.00
actual price seems to be 150 - 165 at most retailers
beyond that the pics seem to speak for themselves
i am sure the blade is crap

There is discussion about this sword on the Highlander boards.. Apparently the blade is fairly decent but the hamon is acid etched and the handle has extra clouds making it longer (to accommodate a full tang blade.)
Theres more but my lunch is over and I need to get back to work :p

This thing has been picked apart on the Highlander boards for months now.

Apparently the blade is relatively decent quality but that handle.....

it is so inaccurate it's disgusting. Not just the extra clouds that obviously don't belong there, but the stump nose, the tongue turned into fangs, extra thick lego inspired fin on top, sanded down smooth features, wrong shaped head, totally wrong habaki, ..............

I do not see it as any different than the china knockoffs.

Wow... this like the one we always wanted but never had.

Does this have a full tang or a rat tail?

Any idea how strong the grip is?

I posted these animations I made over on the Highlander board.....

United Cutlery and Kit Rae state this new version is a mix of the first and second movie sword.

This one compares the UC Connor to the "Mentors" (considered a very accurate version of the first Highlander movie sword)

This next one compares the UC Connor to a cast of a screen used Highlander 2 Movie sword.( the H2 handle is smaller so the scalling is a bit off)

I don't believe I have encountered a rat tail tang on a replica katana before.

But with this one they tried to made the blade a decent quality. It is just the handle that is far from accurate.
