Harry Potter wands

Thanks for the great comments!

Ghostsoldier: I think i can get you some close-ups ;)

Shendorion: Thanks a lot! The box you see is one from a series I made, the base is bookbinding cardboard and it is in fact covered with craft paper from omer deserres (big craft stores we have in quebec) and in fact, the bottom part is equally covered, to cover the corners, with classic brown craft paper. and for the seamless edges, it's just the way you flod and glue your paper that creates this effect. I think my experience in bookbinding helped a bit here too ;)

I made a few wands, this is my latest;
Beech, Dragon heart-string, 12,5 inch.

Also working on a box.

Here are most of the ones I have left after giving about two dozen out to friends over the last few years. None of them are attempts to recreate screen props, but I tried to keep close enough to the general style from the third movie on to pass cursory inspection. They're all carved with hand tools and a Dremel out of found wood and dowels from the hardware store.

From top to bottom, they're:
- holly
- maple?
- oak
- cherry
- oak
- maple?

I'm not sure about the maple - I found it mixed in with oak dowels at the hardware store, but it's definitely not oak. They're stained with whatever was handy, and sealed either with clear poly sealant or beeswax and orange oil.

Again, not movie replicas, but here's another new(ish) one of mine:

It's a Black and White Ebony handle with a Holly shaft.

I don't post most of mine, as it might get kinda repetitive, as well as filling up the thread too much. But I have several new ones up in my wand gallery.

Very nifty I like how you fitted the Shaft down through the Handle.

And then this one is from my previous batch, but I wrapped some leather thong around the handle:

Definitely think I need to take a break from wand making for a while though.

Perhaps you should especially if your putting leather thongs on them. I mean leave the thongs for the sexy ladies of Cos-Play! :love:love:love

(sorry couldn't resist) :lol:behave:cry

Here's my most recent one

It looks as if it could use some sort of carving or burned details, but I'm loathe to jeopardize its tactile appeal to make it look better. I'll revisit the idea after I make another one for my wife.

would love to add a dumbledore wand to my collection. I like his wand the best. It would go great with my sword

I know it's not harry potter but I just turned my first wand and where it is rough I still wanted to show it off. The handle is apple and the shaft is regular pine I stained ebony.

I thought i had contributed to this post, but as i havent, here's my most recent custom wand and box.
