Please Do! These are wonderful.
I have a question or two though.

1. Where do you get your wood and Acrylic from?
2. And how hard is it to turn Acrylic? Any special tips for it?

1. I get my supplies from the woodturnerscatalog.com. They are probably the cheapest place I ever found online to buy turning supplies, and then after I found them, I learned that their store and showroom is like 2 miles from my apartment. But even if you live far away, they have great quality and cheap shipping.

Acrylic is a little harder to turn than most woods, but not by much. The main difference is that it doesn't make sawdust, it makes long plastic strings that stick to everything and wrap around the project as you are turning it. It's a little annoying, but not really a problem at all!

Thank you for the info. and for the additional pics. Great Work!

I'm looking for some new ideas for wands to make. Any input?

Have you ever thought about an acrylic wand with wood handle. If I missed it sorry there are just so many... Also perhaps a twisted wand or handle. I will try to find a picture but I am thinking of something like twisted rope.

I have thought of switching the acrylic and wood, but unfortunately, the acrylic only comes about 5" long, so it'd be a really short wand. And there may be a way to make a twisted handle on a lathe, but I don't (yet) know how. I'll look into that!

Do you think it would be possible to join two acrylic pieces that are about the same shade/mix to make the wand portion. possibly turn them separate and create a mortise and tenon joint between the two then blend the turnings into one another. As for the brad I have seen another guy with pieces he turned like this but I am pretty sure ha said he had a special jig or machine that did it. The only way I could see to do it is get the Lathe turning real slow so you can do repetitive fast passes to create the flutes but my lathe wont go that slow. It might be worth the research though. Just be careful.

Ok, I'm not gonna upload all of the ones I make anymore, there's too many. Feel free to see all of them in my online gallery, Wands by Zlurpo on deviantART.

But I'm going to post one more, the one I made for myself! It's my favorite I've made so far!

OK... I came across this book as I get advertisements from the taunton press all the time. I personally have never bought one of these so I cant attest to the quality. I just thought you might be semi interested in this as we were talking about it before. It is on twisted turnings.
