Harry Potter Book insides

Thanks very much patty, jhadha and beechy.

Before I do anything with it I need to print out and bind a prototype to make sure everything works out nicely. I think I worked out the signatures today and it looks good so I'll start printing tomorrow. 6 - 4 sheet signatures for 16 pages per signature = 96 pages.

Looks great! will you be offering the option to buy a bound copy like ecl did with Advanced Potion Making? and what cover are you using? can't wait to see the finished book!

....I love that clipart. Especially on the Draught of Peace.

Where did you find the clip art for this? I am sorely lacking in good quality art sources.

Basically I search the Internet and sometimes use clipart.com.

Alot of the illustrations are made up of several pieces of clipart that I have combined and manipulated to what I wanted or needed for that particular illustration.

Printed out the first signature test copy today so I thought I'd show a few images. I found a really nice paper at Michaels (a crafts store in Canada and the US). They call it white construction paper but it has more of a parchment paper feel. It's a bit stiff, with a medium rough surface and a nice mottled look. Looks perfect for the MPP book.

The 1st signature is right at the front of the book so the images are of the first few pages which I have not posted preview copies yet. Thanks to lilpatty for the front end info. I reworked it a bit but alot of it came from her.

Couple of fuzzy ones but you get the jist.

I'm thinkin' I might have to tone the mould spots back a bit. Comments??

You can see by the last picture the book is pretty big, about half the size of a bedroom door...:lol

I agree to tone back the moulding only a little bit.. But apart from that, my comment was going to be " beautiful.." It's turning out to be a really nice piece..

Looks excellent! I also agree maybe make the mould spots more subtle. I like the paper choice, I often get my stuff from Michaels as well :D I'd also suggest to make sure that the mould pattern isn't made symmetrical (towards the center of the page spreads it appears the mould pattern is slightly mirroring itself). I'm assuming you have a separate layer for this affect, you could just simply flip the pattern vertically on one of the pages in the double page spreads, that should make it appear pretty random.

This is going to be an awesome book!

Thanks ecl. I actually did flip the mould layers around both horizontally and vertically but it is hard to keep straight which page butts up against which page when you put the signature leaves together I ended up with some mirroring. I'm definitely going to scale the mould back and be more aware of where it goes. Probably make one set of files without the mould at all.

Looks amazing so are you done and is that A4 pages folded in half?

No, because each page is 7" x 10" I used Tabloid size paper (11" x 17") folded in half. My printer prints up to 13" x 19" so it is not a problem but for those who can't print this large, you can use A4 folded and just have a scaled down book size.

Looking good, Barney!!!!!

Thanks Patty. Hope you don't mind I took a little "creative license" with some of the front pages you provided me.

Oh, this is all so FANTASTIC! You really did an exemplary job of bringing this book to life, Barneyrfd! Wow! I have to hand it to you for all the work, talent, imagination and diligence it took to piece this all together. EXQUISITELY DONE! And thanks so much for sharing this all along the way!

:love:thumbsup(y)thumbsup

Ok , so are you done

No, I'm not done. I still have 5 more signatures to resolve.

Thanks PotionMistress, I appreciate the glowing comments. I can't take all the credit though, lilpatty provided great input and contributions.

Besides sharing it along the way, I will be posting the final product as soon as i get the 5 remaining signatures resolved. shouldn't be too much longer. Once you get in the groove with them they go pretty quick.

Thanks for people being patient, it is a fairly large project and I wanted to do it well.
